The Business I have decided to research is Asda.

The Asda roots can be tracked back to the 1920's and had two branches at the time. In 1949 a new public company was formed called associated Dairies and Farms Ltd. By the 1960's the company had expanded. By 1970's Asda gad over 30 stores and petrol filing stations where added. By 1981 Asda had expanded even more and had over 80 stores. By the early 90's cost were rising and the successful Asda company was struggling to attract and keep the affluent customer in the south east. But by 2000 all was well and the wall mart all colleague bonus was introduced.

ASDA began with the great entrepreneurial vision and drive of the company's founding fathers who pioneered the concept of one stop shopping in the UK.

Asda's Aims

Asda would like to reduce their landfill waste coming from all stores.

Some aims Asda would like to achieve are:

* Zero waste to landfill

* Have a recycling programme

* Food waste

* Carrier bags

* The packaging of product

Landfill waste meaning that not sending wastes to landfills. Asda have set a target of sending zero waste to landfill by 2010.
