Mum, Dad and I had just moved to St Ives from Plymouth. It wasnt very far away but it did mean that I had to make new friends. For me, this proved to be very hard.

Who am I?

Mum, Dad and I had just moved to St Ives from Plymouth. It wasn't very far away but it did mean that I had to make new friends. For me, this proved to be very hard. I'd only just made friends back in Plymouth. For a 14-year-old teenage boy, who had been the one last to be picked for football teams, and whom everyone thought didn't exist because I was so quiet, St Ives was going to be a big challenge. However, it was going to be more of a battle than I ever imagined.

My first day at my new school was a disaster from the moment I was awoken by my alarm. First off, it was raining. And mum had already gone to work so she couldn't give me a lift. Plus there was no point even asking dad, because I knew he would say no. I sometimes even wonder if he cares about me at all. He acts as if im not even there half the time, we certainly don't have the father-son relationship some children have.

School was awful. No one talks to me, and I begin to realise that I really miss Plymouth. My dad didn't want to move here, but my mum insisted that we needed a change. We had to write this 'Who Am I?' essay in class. When I was younger I would have probably wrote about my brown eyes and blonde hair. But I wanted to write about who I really am. The problem is, I don't know who I am. I'm an adopted child, and my 'mum and dad' don't ever talk about my past.
