PH.Like any laboratory instrument, pH meters need to be calibrated so that they provide accurate readings.

Most people are familiar with pH as an indicator of how acid or alkaline a solution is. The pH scale ranges from 0 pH (very acidic) to 14 pH (highly alkaline). Pure water, at 7 pH, is neutral--neither acidic nor alkaline. Maintaining proper pH is critical, whether growing in soil or hydroponically. Plants absorb each nutrient element only within a certain pH range, and because this range is different for different nutrients, there is only a relatively small pH range in which all nutrients are available.

Strips used: (pH 5 - 10). These indicate pH to the nearest 0.5 units. A pH meter gives greater precision but pH strips are adequate and easy to use, not to mention, strips can be used only once.

Calibration is a process that allows the digital pH meter to acknowledge if any piece of testing equipment is performing to its up most of use and discharges any problems that it encounters.
