Extracts from this essay...

Introduction

Are boys taller than Girls? Do girls catch up to boys by year 11? Are younger people more out of proportion? I will need lots of data to answer these questions. The Data I need to do this piece of coursework will be obtained from the Alun School database I will use it to make graphs like a cumulative frequency graph. This will help me to find the median and the interquartile ranges. This is the Data I will use Year Favourite Colour Gender Travel to school Eye Colour Hair Colour Watching TV Hand Span Height Circumference of head Length of arm Span Length of forearm right foot left foot 7 Blue M Bus Brown Brown 4 hrs or more 17 150 56 154 25 22 22 7 Orange M Bus Brown Brown 4 hrs or more 18 148 54 152 25 22 22 7 M Car Brown Brown 1 hr to 1 hr 59 min 17.5 160 55 147 23 22 22 7 Blue M Bus Brown Brown 4 hrs or more 17 152 42 150 22 22 24 7 Red M Car Blue Brown 4 hrs or more 16 140 52 154 21 22 22 7 Blue M Taxi Brown Brown 1 hr to 1 hr 59 min 16 150 54 147 21 22 22 7 Red M

This is true for both year 7 and year 11. The girls have caught up to boys. You can see this by looking at the lines. In year 7 the boys are well ahead of the girls but by year 11 the peaks of the girl's lines are a lot closer to the boy's peaks. It is also true that the younger pupils are more out of proportion than the older. Again we can see that this by looking at the lines. If the line is straight then the pupils are out of proportion but if the line is about the same distance from the arm span as the height then they are less out of proportion. The yr 7 line is straighter than the yr 11 line. I also found out that the most favourable colour of all the pupils in yr 11 and 7 is blue the least liked colour is orange.
