Designing a film poster for the film S.W.A.T.

Extracts from this document...

Introduction

I am going to design a film poster for this piece of coursework. First of all, I have to find some images of different posters - research from IT sources and non-IT sources; I will do this by using 'google advance search' on the internet and then go to the library to find some posters from the magazines. (I am going to photocopy the pictures and text which I think will be useful for my coursework.) I will select at least 12 posters by searching through the internet. I am going to start doing the coursework after I analyze those posters - I may use the advantages of the posters and try to avoid the disadvantages of them. I have got an idea to work on the film 'Harry Potter'. Therefore, I have to go on to the internet to find some images and text (e.g. the names of the director, the main character and the writer of the book, etc.). After this, I will choose some images (2 or 3) which I will use for creating my own poster. When I create the poster, I will also using different types of software to make some special effects on the poster, e.g. Publisher, Paint Shop Pro, 3D plus. I prefer to try two different kinds of arrangements. For example, change poster with different pictures or change the color of the poster or use different ways to represent the text or put the pictures and the text in different position, etc. I will compare the two pieces of work and choose a better one as the final design. Also, I have to check the errors on my poster, such as wrong spelling. After correcting them, I am gong to ask my teacher about how I can improve the coursework and he will give me some advises. I then decide to describe my final design and write about effects of using those different software. ...read more.

If a file has a virus then the program will delete it and may be able to remove ie. Removing the virus could damage the file that has the virus but it will stop the virus spreading. However, new viruses are produced all of the time so you must keep virus checker program up to date with details of all the latest viruses. Regularly backing up important data will ensure that it can be recovered if it is attacked by a virus. Advantages of using computer to do this task 1) It is very quick for searching the information. Before creating the poster, I used 'google advance search' to find different kinds of poster on the internet. This is much quicker than searching information from the books. Because there would be a lot of images stored in different webs shown on the screen after I enter the information about what I would like to search-it just took me less than one minute to do this. 2) The work that I have done would not be easy to be lost - they are all saved in the computer's memory. After I did some work, I saved them into the file 'project 1a'. So it would not be lost unless there is something wrong with the computer system which is not happened very often. If I lost the work that has been printed out, there would still be a copy of that work in the computer. 3) The work could be found and processed easily and quickly (by using different tools in the computer). When I created the poster, I needed to combine two or three pictures together by using special tools in Paint Shop Pro. All of the information that I am going to use in my poster are saved in the folder. I just need to open the file that I have saved so that the poster will come out. ...read more.

Conclusion

There is a poster which contains the image of Hermione - the brow and the action of her is quite nice but I am not going to use it, because the style of her hair - it is not easy to be processed and it took a lot of space that might not be suitable for the arrangement of my poster. In other words, it would affect the result of the poster. Look another poster of the flying car and the castle, this does show the exciting bits of the film but the images of characters does not look very obvious and the image of the flying car is too big. It seems there would be too crowded if I add some more images on it. Actually I did think about to add of the characters on my poster, however I changed my mind after I saw a poster which is quite similar to my idea - it looks messy. I also found some text and numerical information. For example, the text information includes the name of the director, the name of the author (the film was directed on the base of the novel, so it would be necessary to add the name of the author) and the name of the main actors and the actress. Actually I did find some other text information about the film, such as: the original music, production design, art apartment, etc. However I am afraid that I cannot add them all on my poster or that would be crowded. If I make the font size smaller, the words would not be seen clearly. So I just chose some of them. I decided to add the images of Ron and Hermione onto the poster that I had chosen at first. And I would make some change and effects to the surrounding. Then put the text and the numerical information that I had chosen on the proper space of my poster, with different style and colors of letters. ...read more.
