When businesses market they would consider marketing mix. This is also, known as four Ps, which is product, price, place and promotion. This would help the business put products and services precisely on the right place, at the right price and at the correct point in time. Marketing mix is the best method when planning on marketing your products and services and it will help your business avoid some kind of selling mistakes, e.g., publishing and selling text books to students that have not been updated, this business would collapse as it is not selling the product at the right time.
Product
The product is considered on its type and style. Markers should make their products more appealing than their competitors. Therefore, before creating a product markers should make sure that the product would liked buy the customers, you could know if the customers like your product by, asking customers through, survey, questionnaires and so on. When producing products the business should what type of customers they have, what they need to buy and if their changing habits change, then they would need to consider how they can renew products in order to meet customers interests and needs. They would need to check which sales is failing, so that they can do anything before it gets worse.
Pricing
If your products are priced higher then it would be harder to build customers, and if it is cheap then you might not make a profit. It is important to research on consumers opinions about pricing, as then you will know how they value what they are looking for and what they want to pay. The prices vary according to time and circumstances, therefore the prices should competitive in order for you to get good results. Moreover, before making prices businesses would know how much they should charge, and check if they have to decrease the price on the start up of business to attract customers or to make clearance, in order to introduce new products, whilst considering what benefit would bring to the company .
Place
A place is where your business will be located; it could be online or at a physical distribution. Companies have to distribute the products and services at the right place. The place should be targeting your customer, for example, . when businesse distribute their products, they could sell it directly yo the customers or through retailers ie shops.
Promotion
There are different parts of promoting which consists of advertising, sales promotion and public relations. Making an advertisement would make the business to be known and get more customers, companies advertise though newspapers, television, radio, leaflets, posters internet and word of mouth. Sales promotion is used to in order to increase sales; this could be dome by making special offers and so on. Public relation involves developing excellent relationship with the public i.e. customers and staff. Business could also, promote their products through giving free samples to the customers, and when advertising they should consider the place where they could get the customers that they are targeting. Moreover, before advertising you should check that you have the costs that would meet your needs, for example, if you advertise a business on a television, it would cost more money, but if you can afford then it would make your products be known more.
The concept of marketing mix would guide you to create a product that is needed to a particular group of people, then put the product on a place that these people visit regularly, at a price that matches the need of these people.
