The Finance department controls the money of the firm. They control how much money goes in and out of the firm. They are responsible for allocating the budgets of the firm.

Finance mainly consists of five main parts, they are cash flow forecasting, Budget planning, raising finance, management accounting and financial accounting. They help with the day to day running of the business and for business growth.

The Organisational Structure of Strobe Leisure PLC

This organisation chart is a flat one. It is know as a Flat hierarchy. this tells there is not many layers of command in Strobe Leisure Plc.

Because this company has Plc written at the end of its name I know that it is a Public Limited company. This means that there are shareholders who own the company.

For a message to get from the workers to the shareholder it has to go though the chain of command. The chain of command starts at the workers, it then goes to the team leader who then transfers it to the Cinema manger and then goes to the general manager and finally it goes though the operations director who pass it onto the Shareholders

Objectives for Strobe Leisure

I think Strobe Leisure should use Profit Maximisation, increasing in the Market Shares and Growth in Profit for there objectives.

Profit Maximisation

I think this because Strobe Leisure want to make as much profit as they possibly can. The more profit they make the better they can make the cinema. They could do this by putting up the prices of their tickets or cutting down on the amount of stock they have in store. This will also save space as well as rent money for a store and electricity that would be needed to run the store.

Growth in Profits

I think this one because it might give them an indication on how much other cinema are making and how much they may have for profit.

Increase in the Market Shares

I feel this one is a good one for Strobe Leisure to use as may meant that they have a lot of the public visiting their cinema. They could do this by advertising more and giving free promotion tickets. This may make the public want to come to Strobe Leisure rather than the competitors. If Strobe Leisure have a bigger share in the market compared to it competitors then maybe in the future Strobe Leisure may kill off their competitors and be the only main cinema in the country.

If Strobe Leisure were to build a new cinema they may have to face some problems which they would need to sort out.

If strobe Leisure do not have a lot of money the firm will not be able to build a big complex like they may have wished for because they will not be able to afford it. The more money the company has the bigger the out of town complex can be.

As the complex will be new, Strobe Leisure will not have enough workers to work in the cinema so they will have to employ new workers so that the complex can open. If there were no workers the cinema would get run down, as there would be nobody to keep an eye on the running of the cinema and to take money from the customers

Strobe Leisure will need to buy new equipment so that the cinema can run the facility that it needs to. For example if there was no screen for the film to be projected on to there would be no point in going as you would not be able to the film.

If Strobe Leisure had to borrow money from the bank and the interest rate increase this means they will have to pay back more money than what they had borrowed in the first place. As they will have to pay back more money to the bank they will have less money to spend on other goods that they will need to run the cinema.

If a pressure group is protesting about the green field site being used by Strobe Leisure plc it will hold up the process of the building work of the cinema complex. Strobe Leisure may have to make a compromise with the pressure group. Or they may have to take action and have the pressure group removed from the site. This may result in the arrest of some of the protesters.

If the exchange rate falls which makes the import of the films in to this country more expensive it means that Strobe Leisure may not be able import all the films that they would like or they would have to wait till they have more money so that they could import the films into the country.

The BBFC gives all films a rating. This will affect Strobe Leisure because it determined what age the audiences are. If Strobe Leisure had all there films with a certificate of age 18 it means that they will not get anybody younger than the age of 18 in their cinema. This would then cause complained by mothers who have children of younger ages. This is because they may like to sent there children to the cinema to get them out of the way or to entertain them, but if there is no films that they are aloud to watch then they can not go to the cinema. This mean that Strobe Leisure has to have a wide range of films so that it suits everybody.

The importance of a break even chart

The break-even chart is important to the business as it can be used to make decisions on prices and to forecast profit. It can also be used by financial institutions if the business is applying for a loan.

How a Break even chart will help Strobe Leisure.

A break-even chart will help Strobe Leisure to work out the price of their cinema admission tickets. It will give them an average for what they should be charging to make a profit. They may wish to put the price down a small amount for children's tickets and up a small amount for the adult's tickets.

It will help Strobe Leisure work out what there should be paying their workers. If they assume that they will sell a certain amount of admission tickets in a week, they can then deduct fixed costs that they already know and see how much they have left for the workers. What is left after deucting the wages of the staff is what they will have as a profit.

Once Strobe Leisure know how much profit they have they can decide what they would like to do with the extra money. They could invest in more complexes around the country or the world or they could improve the facility at the existing complexes. The break-even chart will help to see how much they can invest back into the complexes

Conclusions:

I have found that most of the people that I have asked, were courtly employed and there were happy in their work. If a person is happy in their work place they are more likely to work harder than if they weren't happy. Most of the people that I asked intended to stay in their cournt job between 1 and 4 years. 2 people said that they were intending on leaving within the next year. If some if intending in leaving with in a short period of time they may not be willing to work very hard and may start to get a bit lazy and not do all the tasks that they intended to do. 3 people that I asked said that they were going to stay in the job that they are in at present for over 4 years. This is a good sign and it shows that they enjoy their job. I found that half the people that I asked only take a short lunch break. This shows that they are determine to work though their lunch break so that they get the task done before they leave the for home in the afternoon. Some people would go home at the same time everyday whether or to the task is finished.

Some of the workers that I asked have to travel quite far to get to work. This shows that someone is kin to do any job that is available for him or her, no matter where it is. Most of the 12 people that I asked rated money as the top thing that motivate them to work.

Recommendations:

I think that Strobe Leisure should do several things to motivate their workers. 1. I think that Strobe Leisure should offer their workers a free lunch and give them up to an hour's break but they do not have to take the whole hour. If the workers know that they can get an hours break they may wish to work harder so that any tasks are finished before they go to lunch.

2. They should give them a bonus at the end of the year if they have worked hard enough to earn it. If the workers know that at the end of the year they could get a bonus but only if they work hard. This will motivate them to work hard so that they make sure that they can get the bonus.

3. To make sure that the workers are happy in the job Strobe Leisure could give each employee a responsibility; this will make the employer fill like they have some power. Strobe Leisure could also make sure that they only employee happy workers that will get on well with other people. People like to have friend at work. If all the employees were unfriendly, nobody would be happy, as the unfriendly ones will make the friendly ones feel depress.

4. Strobe Leisure need to make sure that the job is enjoyable and not boring or the workers will get bored and want to leave after a short while. To make the job enjoyable they will need to make sure that the workers are not doing the same thing each day and that they always have something to do.
