Throughout the life of the company, there have been numerous ideas. However they have had to be rejected as we thought there would not be enough customers taking a liking to the idea.
-
Games nights – the problems were we could only have this event one night each week, some of our potential customers will have had to be on their landings at the time we decided to start each night, and we may not be able to have as much of a variety as our customers would like.
-
Lottery – problems we had with this idea was we may not get as many customers entering so that we can buy prizes and still keep a profit for the business due to possible ethical concerns (children may not like gambling), and finding a suitable prize for each winner.
-
Plants sales – problems with this idea were the changing seasons, meaning certain plants may go out of season when the winter months approach.
We listened and watched everyday life in the school to find out what the students wanted from a small school business. We eventually discovered that the thing they wanted from us was an alternative morning break time snack.
And so, from this newly gathered information, the group decided to set up a ‘tuck shop’ in which customers could buy an alternative break time snack in the morning.
The choices are:
- Cereal bars
- Fruit bars
- Fruit juice drinks
- ‘Healthy’ sweets
The final plan was to continue with the break time drinks and healthy snacks.
The products are a healthy alternative to the chocolate bars and biscuits that pupils would probably be accustomed to in any other tuck shop or sweet shop. Our products will be cereal bars, juices, and healthy alternative sweets.
Currently, the business “Official Inc.” is in the selling stage of development. The business has its idea and its outlet where products will be sold, and customers have now bought some products and may come back for more.
The opportunity for this venture has come when we recognised some children had a lot of disposable income to spend, and others wanted a wider variety of snacks to consume during their break between lessons other than a glass of juice and a couple of biscuits. Therefore, we are offering an alternative break time snack – not a replacement.
