This report is going to explain the importance of employability skills and personal skills in the recruitment and retention of staff in Tesco plc. Tesco PLC is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer headquartered in Cheshunt. They hold the number one position in UK grocery sector. This report gives indication of what needs to be met for Tesco plc to recruit employees that are able to work efficiently in and remain in Tesco plc. The retention of staff is important to businesses such as Tesco plc because retention saves costs of recruitment and training replacements in the long run. Retention means staff become more experienced over time and may give better service to customers. This suggests that keeping retention of staffs is important for Tesco plc because it means that staffs that have gained experience in working in their sector in Tesco plc have more knowledge of what they are doing which safes money for Tesco plc. This makes recruitment crucial to get right because there could be some employees that aren?t reliable to commit to work or stay and work in the job because they might not like the wages they get; they might not like what they are doing in the job, etc. ...read more.

Effectiveness in meeting personal and team/departmental targets this would be essential in the role of customer service and sales assistant in Tesco plc. This is because employees need to cooperate with other works and to consumer; this will increase retention in Tesco plc for example having able to work and other workers which can be enjoyable for employees to stay. This gives an indication that working with other employees can affect Tesco plc in increasing retention in their stores. Personal skills Personal skills are important in recruitment and retention of staff at Tesco plc because when recruiting and reviewing current staffs personal skills employees need to have strong communication characteristics. This would be required for the job roles as a manager in Tesco plc as they need to be able to understand other colleagues, customers and have good leadership to manage their sector they manage. High level of staffs The wide variety of high level of staff roles within Tesco plc need personal skills that for job role of being a higher level of staff for example personal skills such as leadership, commitment, organised etc. ...read more.

This gives indication that working in a team will help improve the staff?s social interaction and work performance in Tesco plc. Having good interpersonal skills would be essential in the role of customer service because interpersonal skill is all about to communicate and interact with other people, which is key working in a team and interacting with other customer with confidence. For example having to help customers with the right personality, interact and provide service for customers. This indicates that interpersonal skill is important for job role of customer service. In conclusion there are different aspects that have to be met to be able to have the right type of employee that is right for the role of the job when recruiting employees. For example, when recruiting employees in Tesco plc there things that needs to be looked at such as having good employability skills and personal skills when employing people.
