Extracts from this document...

Introduction

P1 1. Hard drive (HDD) A. A hard drive is a storage device that can saves data and information, it safes the information and data in bit, decabit (10 bits), hectobit (100 bits), kilobit (1000 bits), megabit (1,000,000 bits), gigabit(1,000,000,000 bits). A hard is similar to a human's brain; a human's brain has short term memory and long term memory. A hard drive has long term memory. B. The Hard drive is like a humans long term memory it can save data on it for as long as you want to and nothing will happen to the data that you have saved on the hard drive it also loads the operating system. The hard drive communicates with loads of hardware in the PC, such as it communicates with the RAM. ...read more.

1. Motherboard A. A motherboard is the main board of a pc that carries busses, it has different sockets with different CPUs. The motherboard is the hardware of the pc where everything gets connected to, for example the RAM, hard drive, CPU, DVD drive and the power supply etc. B. The motherboard communicates with everything in the pc because the main and the most parts of the pc get connected to the motherboard. One thing that the motherboard communicates with is the CPU, it transfers busses from the motherboard to the CPU and then back, busses are parts data that have been saved by the user on the hard drive. 2. central processing unit (CPU) A. A CPU is hardware in the pc that you can call the brain of a PC. ...read more.

Conclusion

The graphics communicates with the motherboard because it takes data from it to display it some where, witch is the monitor and the graphics card communicates with the monitor because it needs to display something on it. 4. FireWire A. FireWire is a high speed data communication cable that transfers data one device to other device very fast. FireWire is faster then USB B. FireWire communicates a lot of devices such as digital cameras and other dives that need high speed data transfer rates. FireWire Transports data at 100, 200, or 400 Mbps. It much faster then a USB. 5. Digital video disc (DVD) A. The main use of a DVD is to hold digital data such music, movie, files and folders. It is used every form home to business. B. The DVD drive communicates with the hard drive and other storage devices because it needs to take the data from the storage devices to save it on the DVD ROM. ...read more.
