My T.I.E development coursework.

To start our play we all sat down in a group and planned what scenes we are going to do. We all wrote down different ideas that we could do on ‘Stranger Danger’. We had many different ideas including; a child who was called over to a car by a stranger, the child was then pulled into the car. Another example is, a child was walking a dog and the dog ran away, the child was left alone and asked a stranger for help. In the end, we decided on two scenes. One scene is when a young child is in the supermarket with her mum and she starts being silly so her mum tells her off. The child then gets upset with her mum so she wonders off. Two strangers then approach her and she leaves the supermarket with them, fortunately, two security guards get there just in time before she is gone for good. The second one is when two twins are in the park with their older sister and the older sister meets her friend and walks off leaving the children playing on their own. A stranger comes over to them and one of the girls starts talking with him. The other girl knows that this is a bad idea and warns the other sister so in the end the children leave the strangers. As you can see there are two very different scenes because one is right and one is wrong. Nevertheless, in the end they both give off the same message. Even with limited help from the teacher we managed to get on with our work on our own and create, what I think was a very good performance. When deciding which ideas to use we all sat and had a discussion and went through every idea individually and said how we could work with it. We all agreed on the ideas we chose. We all worked together as a team to see how we could develop the scenes and include many different characters. When we actually started rehearsing our performance if anyone had an idea that we could do they would just say it and everyone could say what they thought. To make it fair every person put in at least five different ideas. The rehearsals did not really go as we planned. We made lunch and after school rehearsals and in all of them only around three out of nine actors turned up. So we just had to work extra hard in our lessons. The presenters went off in one part of the room and the characters from that scene in another and went though everything so that no one was waiting around.

I think that both of my characters were really strong and believable.  I started off being a flimsy presenter called Wendy. But, once I had developed her, I had become an energetic, enthusiastic presenter, Wacky Wendy. I developed this character by using all of my key drama skills, including, facial expressions, body language and projection. The six c’s which are contribution, concentration, communication, commitment, co-operation and confidence were also extremely helpful when you are trying to develop a character. To develop my character further I used manorism. This is when you think you are that character and what you ...
