Why is horror so popular? Horror films are so popular because the audience likes to be shocked and scared, it's an obsession which hasn't been understood properly, because horror films are bloody evil things that occur in our nightmares. There are many types of horror films within this genre such as:

Gothic horror

Gothic horror consists of horrifying events, which are barbarous and uncouth. This genre is the most original horror there is. The setting for gothic horror is ominous and sister like a lonely castle in the middle of nowhere. Mainly female victims and male killers. Example of gothic films Dracula and Frankenstein.

Slasher

Slasher horror movies consist of blood, gore, sharp objects and a lot of killings and killers it is also very formulaic. Mainly female victim and male killer.

Psychological Thriller

Psychological thriller consists of mental characteristics, mentally behaved and disordered people.

Occult

Occult involves the supernatural, mystical, devils, bloody deaths etc.

Science Fiction

Science Fiction in which the plot is based on speculative scientific discoveries, drastic environmental changes or space travel.

All of these genres have low-key lighting and sound effects to create certain atmospheres and moods. All of these films follow their own forms and conventions such as male killer women victim etc. Most horror films language are viscous and don't have very complicated plots.

Our plot is about a young boy and his mother. This young boy is disturbed, and when he grows up he carries out what happened to him to other people but even worse he slaughters people for no reason. Then at the end he is just about to kill his girl friend when she turns around and kills him. The genre for this film is psychological thriller. We chose to do this because we all like watching psychological thrillers so we decided to make our own one. We tried to stay within the forms and convention of our horror as best we could e.g. male killers, female victims
