Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is the pressure blood exerts on the artery wall and is a clear indication of general health. Its important blood pressure is measured before exercise because it shows weather the clients at risk of a heart attack. Blood pressure is taken by a blood pressure monitor. I did this by asking my client to relax for 5 minutes. I then asked my client to rest there left arm on the chair with the palm facing up. The blood pressure strap is then placed 2-3 cm above the elbow. The strap is attached to the monitor which is then turned on and the strap inflates which then measure the blood pressure.
Lung Function Lung function test is done to see if the airways between the mouth and alveoli are clear and conductive to good air flow. You will know if your lung function is poor as when you blow into the peak flow you don’t blow with much force. This also limits the amount of oxygen that is delivered to the bloodstream and tissues. This is done by asking my client to take the deepest breath they can, and then exhale into the sensor as hard as possible.
BMI Monitor BMI stands for body index mass the monitor is used to give clients a rough idea whether they are obese or not. This is done by entering the clients weight height and age into the monitor and it calculates there BMI. This specific monitor only measured the top half of the clients body not the whole body. BMI monitor has its limitations as it doesn’t measure body composition it just to state if someone is overweight. Also it doesn’t make the distinction between the fat and muscle in the body so it is known as an inaccurate measurement. The Monitor is measured using a grid which is below...
STRENGTHS
Client one Gail Hammond
The strengths that I found from taking the health monitoring tests on my client is that her resting heart rate as it is between the normal range which is 60-80 BPM. My clients resting heart rate fell in the category as it was 65 BPM. This is good as it falls within the normative boundaries for an efficient heart. My clients blood pressure falls in the normal category which is good so her heart is beating at the right pace and isn’t too fast or too slow. Looking at t the general population grid her blood pressure should be between 120-140/80-90, and her blood pressure falls in that. My client’s lung function was normal as it fell in the norm category from looking at the general population guide. By looking at the General population guide for her height her lung function is quite average as the average is 416 and she got 440 which is actually above average meaning her lung are functioning properly. From looking at the results above she is quite healthy as everything is normal for her. Also by looking at her health questionnaire she is fairly healthy and the questionnaire doesn’t have any outcast that should be worried about.
Client Two Paul Soetan
Before looking at my second Clients health monitoring test results, I looked at his health screening questionnaire I gathered that my client is far healthy as he stated he exercise 3/4 time a week which is very good. Also this reflects the results which we got from the health screening test as they were mostly normal or above average. Looking at my clients results his resting heart rate was very normal as it fell in the average boundary for his age. This is normal increased when taken part in vigorous movement. His blood pressure was perfect as well as it fell in the normal category when looking at the general population guidelines where it should be between 120-140/80-90 and his was 131/81. This showed that his blood pressure wasn’t too high or low and he has a quite healthy diet and lifestyle allowing him to have such a good reading. His lung function was above average as for a male it should be 607 and his was 700 which means his lungs are functioning very well and is receive more than enough air in it. My client BMI was 24.1 which falls in the normal category. This is very good as he is able to main his weight by eating well and also doing his regular exercise.
AREA’S FOR IMPROVEMENT
Client one Gail Hammond
Her area for improvement is would be ideally to lose some weight as the BMI monitor indicated that she is overweight. However the BMI monitor only measured the top half of her body making it slightly unreliable. To improve this she could increase the amount of cardiovascular work and increase the intensity she is working at as it will give her a better end result. Also from looking at her health questionnaire she indicated that she can lose weight rather easily, meaning weight loss won’t really be a problem for. Also from evaluating the health questionnaire she indicated her stress levels where very high which may have been the reason to her weight increase.
Client Two Paul Soetan
For my second client not that much area for improvement was needed as he is a very active and fit young man. From looking at his results everything for him is normal average or above average meaning he is maintaining his body and organs in the right way, however for him to maintain that and make sure he keeps his systems in order he must carry on with his exercise of 3 days per week also make sure he has the right diet as well.
CONCLUSION
After looking through the results of both of my clients I have gathered that they both are different as one of my clients is healthy but has area’s she could improve on to make her body systems more efficient. Also her main area for improvement was the results from the BMI reading. It showed that she was overweight but she shouldn’t take that as a down fall she should use that to motivate herself to lose weight and keep herself fit and on the go. My second client however was very efficient as all his results where average and above average showing his systems where working efficiently and he was training them well enough to be maintained like that.
Evaluation
For Gail to maintain the healthy lifestyle she is living she must continue to exercise weekly also having a balanced diet. From looking at her result all the health screening tests where all average or normal apart from her BMI. Her BMI was classed as overweight but she shouldn’t take it as a down fall as she could easily change it and be in the normal category. For her to do that she should focus on cardiovascular work when she is exercising enabling her to make work more which will eventually lead her to losing weight. For her to maintain her good lung function she should do endurance training which is continuous training which will work on her respiratory system making efficient. Her Blood Pressure was fairly good but for her to uphold that she should have a balanced diet not eating too much fatty food and also carrying on with her cardiovascular training.
On the other hand Paul lifestyle was very healthy as by looking at his results his readings where all average or above average this just shows that he takes pride in the way he eats and exercises on a regular basis. His Lung function was above average by looking at the normative data. However for him to keep that consistent he must carry on with his cardiovascular work which will allow him to keep his lung function more efficient. With the rest of his health monitoring test he should carry on with the regular exercise, balanced diet and he will be able to stay in that same healthy way.
