Introduction

Write a definition of the terms:  

Legislation: ‘Laws collectively’

Legislation: is a part of the law in which the government bring together so that people cannot get hurt in their workplaces while working which is link to the Health and Safety Act 1974.

        

Regulations:  ‘A rules, the action of regulating’

Regulation: is a rule that the government set for everyone to follow while working as this will enable the employer and worker to know their responsibility towards the service users.  

Codes of practice:  ‘A set of laws, standards etc’

Codes of practice:  is a list of laws that explain the principles of the conduct and practice that are required by the worker as they continue to do their daily job.

Here are the legislation, regulation and codes of practice that linked to my two creative and therapeutic activities for my clients: which may include.

Memory and senses

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974: Is the main law that provides guidelines in order to maintain the health and safety for everyone in the workplaces including visitors, as it applied to both employer and employee that are in duties. While doing this activity with the elderly people, I make sure that I remove all unused equipment around them which is related to the health and safety at work Act which said that it is the duty of all employers to make sure that they provide a safe working atmosphere. I also informed them about the type of activity I would be doing with them as it gives them some idea about what they would be expected to do, which is related to this law as it say that employer should provide information, training, and supervision. I also make sure that after the activity has finished I put away all the utensils to the right place which is also link to this law as it says that employer should make sure that they stored all materials used. I also make sure that I protect them from being harm while doing this activity with them, which is related to the law which says that employer should look after the health and safety of anyone who are working in their organisation.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002:  This is a law that gives us idea how to protect ourselves from harm especial when working with chemical substance. While doing this activity I make sure that I did not give them any chemical such as bleach to smell as it is dangerous to their health as some of them will drink it because it looks like water. I also make sure that I did not give them any product to smell that they are allergic to. Although some of them sneeze when I give them ginger powder, ...
