Treatment 1
The first treatment was performed at lunchtime at Emma’s house in the spare bedroom. I took my massage couch and lit scented candles and played a relaxation CD. Emma chose Oil for the treatment so we used grapeseed.
We filled out the consultation forms and I explained the treatment, benefits and left her to get undressed and cover herself with the towel provided. As Emma was a bit nervous I suggested that we only do the back on the first session to allow her to get used to the contact and break her in gently.
During the treatment we chose not to talk and just listened to the music. I noticed some excessive tension in her shoulders and felt that it was mainly due to her feeling uncomfortable with the treatment so I gave her a few breathing exercises to try. Gradually Emma relaxed and began to enjoy the treatment. A hot towel was applied at the end of the treatment to remove excess oil from her back.
The treatment lasted 30 minutes.
After the treatment Emma felt revitalised. She said that her shoulders felt more flexible and she would definitely have another massage. She had a glass of water and I advised her not to drink tea unless it was herbal and to avoid alcohol. She had not yet eaten so I advised her to have a light nutritious meal and not to undertake any vigorous exercise. I also advised her to carry on with the breathing exercises to help her relax.
We arranged another treatment for the following week.
Follow-up/ client feedback
Emma said that she felt really relaxed after the first treatment and that her shoulders had felt less tense. She had not experienced any after effects from the massage.

Treatment 2
The second treatment took place in the evening, again at Emma’s house. She had been at a cross country event all day and was feeling quite sore. I lit some scented candles and we played some music. The lights were dimmed and the room was nice and warm.
This time we used a cream as Emma had felt greasy after the last treatment. She also chose to have a full Body massage, excluding the buttocks.
Emma’s week had been quite stressful as her four year old son had been off school poorly and two of her staff were on holiday. Her shoulders were tense and she had had a headache the day before which has left her forehead feeling bruised.
There were quite a few knots around her scapula and her lower back felt tight.
The treatment lasted 1hr 10 minutes.
After the treatment Emma said she felt very tired. At one point she had nearly dropped off to sleep and had really enjoyed the massage.
I reminded her of the aftercare advice and told her to drink plenty of water and herbal tea and to avoid alcohol after the treatment. I thought she would benefit from a good nights sleep as she looked very tired. I also advised her on some postural exercises for her lower back which I thought would benefit her when riding.
We arranged another treatment for the following week.
Follow-up/ client feedback
Emma’s headache returned after this treatment. She also felt very dehydrated. She said that she had preferred the massage with the cream as her skin felt lovely.

Treatment 3
The third treatment took place on a Saturday evening at Emma’s house. I prepared the spare room and lit some scented candles. We couldn’t play any music as her daughter had borrowed the CD player. The lights were dimmed and the room was nice and warm.
Emma had felt much more flexible over the past few weeks. She was doing her postural exercises and hadn’t taken her painkillers for a couple of days.
We did a full body massage using the cream again. This time Emma fell asleep and took a lot of waking afterwards.
The treatment lasted 1hr 20 minutes.
After the treatment Emma was thirsty, tired and was looking forward to a bath and bed.
I reminded her of the aftercare advice and advised that she should continue treatment at least once a fortnight to benefit her back.
Follow-up/ client feedback
Emma said that she had thoroughly enjoyed the treatments and that she wouldn’t hesitate in trying other treatments. She will continue to have treatments from me in the future as she feels that it has made a difference to her back problems.
