This website answered both of my aims my first aim which was how far the education of a teenager affected by pregnancy?

From what I found out it says that as well as being more likely to have problems at school before they become pregnant, young mothers are les likely to complete their education, have no qualifications by age 33, be in receipt of benefits and if employed be on lower incomes than their peers. From what I understood from the information is that education does get effected by pregnancy because they need to look after the baby. A statistic from the website says that some 44% of mothers under 20 breastfeed, compared to 64% of 20-24 year olds and up to 80% of older mothers.

My second aim which was what the effects of teenage pregnancy are upon family life?

From what I found out it says that teenage mothers are more likely to be lone parents and more likely to find themselves in the middle of family conflict. The website also says that certain groups of young people seem to be particularly vulnerable to becoming teenage parents. This includes members of some ethnic minority groups for example Caribbean, Pakistani and Bangladeshi women are more likely than white women to have been teenage mothers. From what I understood from the information is that some parents can force there daughters to get married at a young age this could lead to teenage pregnancy and wouldn't effect family life because there parents might of forced them to get married. However in some families they do not allow teenage pregnancy and kick there daughter out of the house. This is why 80% of under 18 year old mothers live in someone else's household and teenagers are more likely to have to move house during pregnancy.

The response I had in my research which I found out that wasn't the same as my questionnaire was that I had asked this question: What do you think about having an abortion? Many people had responded as they don't know. However in my research it said in 2000, 38,690 under 18 year olds in England became pregnant and 44.8% of these ended in legal abortion. The second statistic was that 7,617 of these conceptions were to under 16s and 54.5% of conceptions to under 16s ended in legal abortion.

The response I had in my research which I found out that was similar to my questionnaire was that I had asked this question: Would pregnancy affect family life? Most people had responded as yes and in my research it had had said pregnancy will affect family because teenage mothers are more likely to be lone parents.
