The DVD Crossing the line was both moving and inspirational. It helped develop a clear understanding of the need for emotional connection to a community which enables a greater understanding of experiences while highlighting the need for distance which is required for self-preservation and perspective. It was surprising to witness how quickly the boundaries were breached in establishing personal relationship within the indigenous community. Further I was shocked at the speed at which authorities removed the students from the community. This was done to protect both the community and the students.
