Introduction

James Baldwin was born in New York on the 2nd of August 1924 and died on the 1st December 1987 in St. Paul de Vence, which is in France. Later on in his life he became a well-known great author. As a child he always wanted to become a writer. In his youth he spent many hours a day reading. Many times as a young child he would escape from his parent's strict, religious home to watch plays movies. His family lived in great poverty, so watching the plays and movies gave him a better chance to imagine a better chance in life. He wanted to experience as much of his life as he could.
