Creating Hyperlinks

Extracts from this document...

Introduction

To insert the button I clicked on insert-interactive images-flash button when the options screen came up I entered information such as; style, background color, button text, font, link, target screen and then name of the button. I then clicked OK. Creating Hyperlinks To link between pages I needed to create hyperlinks, to do this I first wrote the text that I wished the hyperlink to display I then highlighted it and entered the link into the box that appeared I then pressed enter Entering text To enter the text on my site I simply clicked where I wanted it to go and typed it in, I also changed the properties of the text i.e. alignment, color, size, bold, format, etc by highlighting the text and using the toolbar. ...read more.

Changing the HTML code This is the HTML coding for the above table: <table width="68%" border="0" align="center" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="13%"> </td> <td width="18%"><font size="4"><a href="hardFrameset.htm">Hardware</a></font></td> <td width="17%"><font size="4"><a href="sofinFrameset.htm">Software</a></font></td> <td width="15%"><font size="4"><a href="laptopFrameset.htm">Laptops</a></font></td> <td width="37%"><font size="4"><a href="computerFrameset.htm">Computer Systems</a></font></td> </tr> </table> I will demonstrate how changing the HTML coding can affect the look of a webpage. For example if I change the value of the table background color (highlighted above) I can change the way the table looks. I have changed the value from #000000 (black) to #FFFFFF (white) this changes the table background color <table width="68%" border="0" align="center" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <tr> <td width="13%"> </td> <td width="18%"><font size="4"><a href="hardFrameset.htm">Hardware</a></font></td> <td width="17%"><font size="4"><a href="sofinFrameset.htm">Software</a></font></td> <td width="15%"><font size="4"><a href="laptopFrameset.htm">Laptops</a></font></td> <td width="37%"><font size="4"><a href="computerFrameset.htm">Computer Systems</a></font></td> </tr> </table> This is what the table looked like after I had edited the html coding. ...read more.

Conclusion

Best parts I believe that the homepage was the best part of my site as I managed to keep it simple but still make it look good and perform the required actions. I also believe my use of frames was very effective as these make it easy to change between place and are not very easy to put into a website as they can be quite complicated and confusing, however I believe I managed to use them to a good effect. How could I improve the site? If I was to improve the site I would probably spend more time on the flash buttons and get them to work as they can make a website look very professional and look good, they can also make sounds. I would also obtain more information to put on the site and find better logos as this would also make the site look better. Overall I believe my site is useful and easy to navigate. Response to the question

The report is quite basic, as the student has described what there have undertaken to create their website only. However there haven't explained this using detail, which would gain them high marks. The section 'Backing Up Work' is quite good, as this describes that it's important to create a back up in case the computer were to crash. However the report is missing some vital information. The report could include 'Any Back-Up's should be stored at least 100 miles away from the location of the original source of the data. This ensures that if there was a flood/fire at the premises, the data would still be recovered'. The section 'Plan' states how the student has stuck to their plans. It would be good to include within the report, 'If the website didn't stuck onto the plan, then this may have suffered a rime delay, due to the new features the website would have that aren't planned for already'. On the flip side, the section 'How Could I Improve The Site?', was quite good. As this describes the bad points regrading the website and this can be addressed.

Level of analysis

The section 'Accuracy', isn't explained fully. As a website will need to be tested, to ensure that all aspects are working, as users of the internet are expecting a fully working website. The above, should be included within the report to achieve high marks.

Quality of writing

The report uses good use of screen shots which support the writing of the report. This will allow the examiner to visual the report, which is quite good. The report states 'hyper-link', however this term isn't described. All technical terms would need to be explained to allow the examiner to understand the report with ease.
