At the moment they are trying to compete with Nintendo portable with the new Sony PSP.
In this assignment my Sony Product is the new PSP play station by Sony Computer Entertainment, its currently running a national promotional campaign advertising the new PSP on T.V, Newspapers, Magazines, Bill Boards, and Posters.
PSP (Play Station Portable) is a handheld device. It’s capable of showing
photo’s , play music , play video’s and play the play station 3D game with a UMD(Universal Media Disc), where you have a mini slot in for the disk game. The PSP is measuring 6.7 by 0.8 by 0.29 inches, the body feels well built and solid in one’s hand. The centerpiece of the handheld is its especially impressive 4.3-inch wide-screen display (480x272 pixels, 16.77 million colors) PSP comes with the following accessories: AC adaptor, battery pack, car adaptor, white headphones with remote control, memory stick Duo, and PSP pouch and wrist strap.
The PSP will be promoted in different areas varying what media services facilities it may have. They could use all on the following services but again it my vary: Promotion can be done trough television, radio, newspapers, magazines, leaflets, billboards, internet, targeting a few segment of hotmail, yahoo account holders, Sony delivery trucks, pvc rack sing on 4x4 vehicles and also being promoted by all its main retailers such as: SONY CENTRES, GAME, HMV, ARGOS, DIXONS GROUP (DGS International plc) and ECT. The way PSP is advertised is by; TV adverts ( advert show during certain time, for example since the PSP is aimed at young adults then an advert will be show between 4pm and 9pm when young adults come from school and watch there daily programmes such as the Simpson’s, friends and ect), Magazines ( special game magazines), Newspapers, Internet and ECT.
The ‘place’ describes the marketing decision where the products (PSP) can be bought from. This means availability of products at the place of sale, where consumers will be able to buy from. This can be sold by the company itself (Sony), retailers (SONY CENTRES, GAME, HMV, ARGOS, DIXONS GROUP (DGS International plc) JOHN LEWIS, I.T and ECT) from the internet, television shopping channel and ECT.
The package is varying similar to a Nokia phone package that it comes in. Packaging is not very important in this promotional campaign because the PSP has its package where the electrical board are hidden inside the actual body frame of the PSP. This box is to store the console and it’s accessories that they come along with it.
The above company TWBA/London are currently doing a national promotional campaign behalf of the Sony PSP Play station. The above is a advert currently being promoted by TWBA all over the united kingdom promoting the PSP.
