Biology Major: A Path to the Medical Field

As the students sit in the admission office chair looking down at the white space on the application form asking for their major, they know it is the moment of truth. They are finally able to reveal to the world what type of education they want to advance in. They peer down at the box next to biology and check it.  For individuals considering a career in the medical field, biology is a major that allows individuals to further their education in the medical field, is demanding all over the world, and gives the individuals the sense of accomplishment by helping others.

Although there is no required major, pre-medical students often major in biology (Camenson 94). The reason why individuals major in biology is that there is a tangible link to medicine. Therefore, the major provides the best launch pad to set off into the medical field.
