Although there is no required major, pre-medical students often major in biology (Camenson 94). The reason why individuals major in biology is that there is a tangible link to medicine. Therefore, the major provides the best launch pad to set off into the medical field. By majoring in biology, the students will be able to take courses that are both prerequisites for their major and the medical school of their choice. Before entering into a medical school of their choice, they must take the , or MCAT. MCAT is a standardized test that measures knowledge of scientific concepts and principles, problem solving, critical thinking, written analysis, and writing skills. are courses needed to be prepared for the MCAT (Robert, Dan, and Harold 44). By majoring in biology, the students are taking most of the required courses to prepare themselves for the examination.

always be in demand and the professions in that field will continue to grow. Everyone in the
world gets sick, so biology majors who hope to become a doctor could go anywhere in the world and probably get a job. They can pretty much work anywhere. Also, there are not many individuals that are qualified to be in the medical field due to the difficult process of obtaining a degree so there will be less competition. Therefore, it is easier for the individuals who have a degree to dig up a job. To get a head start in this career field, majoring in biology will equip individuals with the skills needed to obtain the professions that are demanded in every part of the world.
Not only that, the biology majors considering the medical field will gain the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment by helping others. Every different occupations associated with the medical field have their own way of helping others. Becoming a doctor has the benefit of saving lives. A dermatologist has the benefit of helping others with their physical appearance. As long as the occupation is in the range of the medical field, the individuals will be able to gain the pleasure of achievement of helping someone in need. By majoring in biology, it will provide the individuals part of the knowledge and mindset to do their very best to make a difference in someone’s life.
In conclusion, there are great benefits for biology majors to pursue a career in the medical field. While majoring in biology, having a career that is demanding all over the world and gaining the satisfaction when seeing the smile of their patients are reasons individuals could look forward to when striving to have a career in the medical field. However, the glorification of this career does not come easy. Nevertheless, by majoring in biology, the individuals are taking a major step to assist them in making this dream become a reality.
