In his scene we used a lot of space. The right side of the stage was the wine-bar, in the middle was the car and the left side was the car park. In the wine-bar scene the props used were a table for the bar and two chairs. We mimed drinking and I mimed talking to the bartender. We both used flirtatious movements and gestures like tuning our bodies in towards the man and smiling non-stop, my partner flicking her hair and me not breaking eye contact with him. The sisters were very competitive towards each other fighting for attention. After Jo realised that she’d lost that battle she drags Judy out of the club and into the car park. Jo stumbles around looking for the car; at this point the sisters show their closeness by working together to find the car.
In the second part of the play Jo and Judy get into the car and start to drive. Jo puts on the radio that plays a pop song. This is to represent her mood at the time; carefree, happy and lively. Judy who is still a bit angry about the incident with the keys in the car park wants to listen to an older and more meaningful song so she puts on her Carpenters tape. They then meet Bob& Nob at a traffic light and after greeting them they laugh and falls asleep, they then crash. The crash happens suddenly while the girls are sleeping. This was done to shock the audience and show them that a terrible accident could happen during something as innocent as sleep.
Judy: Let me drive.
Jo: No it’s my car and my responsibility.
Judy: But you already have 2 points on you licence just give me the keys.
Jo: Fine.
(She throws the keys at Judy, she misses them and they land on the floor.)
Judy: Thanks. (Sarcastically) Get in the car. (They get into the car) Seatbelts.
(Judy puts her seatbelt on; Jo starts to put in on but lets go as soon as Judy’s not looking)
Jo: Put some music on.
(She turns the dials on the radio, Kylie Minogues “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” comes on, and Jo starts singing along. Judy disturbed by this song reaches behind and grabs her Carpenters tape. She puts it on and her and Jo sing along to “We’ve only just begun”. They then stop at a traffic light and spot Bob& Nob.)
Judy: Look who it is!
Jo: Hey Bob how’s your nob!
(They both start laughing hysterically. Judy turns a corner and they go over a bump. The laughter slowly fades out and Jo falls asleep, Judy slowly nods off. They crash.)
We then froze like this for a few seconds to let the audience take in the reality of what just happened in. We then stood up and said one line each from earlier in the play.
Jo: It’s my car and my responsibility.
Judy: Let me drive
We then sat back down in our crash positions and that was the end of the play. We did those last 2 lines to show the things that if changed could have changed the outcome of the night. We also did it so the audience could decide who they thought was to blame; Jo for not driving her own car or Judy for driving when she had been after she had been drinking.
