8 WEEK PRACTICAL DIARY (TEAM) SELECTED SPORT 1:- Volleyball Diary - Week 1 Activity Volleyball Objectives of session: To understand the main areas for volley. Skills and Techniques relevant to the sport (P1) Volley-make sure your knees are bend, use fingertips, flat back, push elbows out, movement, make a step forward, swing your arms from down to up to release power on the shot. What was your involvement in the sport and how did you use these skills and techniques? My involvement in the sport was just taking part in the exercise and participates with the groups we were put to. I used volley in the exercise where we had to stay in pairs and keep the ball up using the volley and then also in groups of 3, one person standing in the middle and the other person pass the ball to him and he pass it back and rotate 180 to receive the next pass. The technique I have used for volley is make sure your knees are bend, use fingertips, flat back, push elbows out, movement, make a step forward, swing your arms from down to up to release power on the shot. During this session my STRENGTHS were: My strength were the exercise where we had to keep the ball up in pairs using volley, I have used the right technique to provide volley. Also my strength was to set up a person for a smash with a volley. During this session my WEAKNESSES were: My weaknesses were rotate volley which we had to exercise and I could not find the right technique to make the rotate volley. Also when we had a game situation and I was on the net I found hard to volley the ball behind me to set up the player behind me. Diary - Week 7 Activity Volleyball Objectives of session To understand the key areas of volleyball in the proper game situation. Skills and Techniques relevant to the sport (P1) * Umpire-arm gestures * Volley-fingertips * Dig-use lower arm, hands together * Block-ready in position, jump up, flick the ball over * Serve-overarm, underarm * Smash-hit the ball with lower arm, swing your arm back What was your involvement in the sport and how did you use these skills and techniques? My involvement in this session was to be the 2nd referee and than swap and be the 1st one. Than I just took part in the game that have been set up for us. As 2 teams of 6 players on each side and playing a proper volleyball game with rotating the position, 2 umpires on the sides, using all the skills we have learnt over the last 6 lessons. At each of these positions we had to use the skills as follow, volley, dig, smash, serve and block. During this session my STRENGTHS were: In this session my strength were be as the setting person on the net or be at the smashing position on the court, where I also get to block the smash of the other team which I think was very successful from my side. During this session my WEAKNESSES were: My weaknesses in this session were that I could not make the serve in either ways as over arm and underarm serve. I also felt poor at the 5th position on the court as I could not get hold of the ball properly. * I need to make my block count each time by raising my hands higher. * I need to make my arm gestures more clearly and also my voice more loudly and clear. * I need to make my positions on the court sufficient and to work on all the skills need it for each different position. Sport 2:- Football * Passing * Shooting * Turns * Dribbling * Control * Tackling * Umpiring * I need to make my passing more accurate. * I need to make my shooting more accurate and stronger. * I need to make my turns faster and sharper. * I need to make my dribbling faster and more under control over the ball. * I need to make my control over the ball tighter and without looking at the ball every time. * I need to make my tackling on time and also make sure I tackle the ball each time. * I need to make my umpiring more sufficient and make arm gestures right and also the decisions made to be correct. a.
