Pressure groups strengthen democracy as they give citizen a voice in a issue they believe in if they have no representative in government or parliament, and an extra voice to people who have a representative in parliament, but their MP dose not believe in what they believe in, plus pressure group give a voice all the time when the group is active. The persuade the government to take an note of what people thing and what they want done, they also persuade the government to change old laws or make news ones. Pressure groups give minorities a voice, they help get there point across when the government would normal not take note of what a small group of people want. So pressure groups help subgroups small groups get their issue across, and to get more people to join their group and help support them. Pressure groups have expert knowledge in the area they are persuading the government, they would have people that work in that field or know about it, they also would have passion for that issue how big or small, as they would show more passion for a small issues like local parking then the government would, they could also have the education in this area al well. Pressure group makes new ideas that the government would never think about, nor even put them forward to parliament. All these show that pressure groups strengthen democracy as they help the public work in a group that persuades the government to change laws, make new laws and a change in how the country is run.
Through pressure groups strengthen democracy; they do also some times weaken it to, how? Some groups can be seem as selfish as they only want what small people of people want and done care about every one else. Some pressure groups can become too political meaning that they become too close to a political party that the start to lose touch with their members and supports, they become like a political party then a pressure group. Also that some groups do not have an elected head/ leader so therefore this can be unfair because not everyone with in the group could have wanted this person as a leader, because their view could be have that this person will not get are point across. Through this only happens in the smaller groups, where the larger groups, national groups need an elected leader as it is a lot more democratic to have an elected leader to get there point across.
Pressure groups do strengthen democracy in the fact that they give a voice to people, they persuade the government to change laws, and how the country is govern, they also make new ideas that government take note of to see what the people think and what they want done. As pressure group strengthen democracy the also have weakness like that they cane been seen as selfish only want one thing and don’t care what everyone else wants, they only care about what they want. Also they can get to close top a political party that they start to loss touch with their members and supports, therefore losing it status with its support. Not having a elected leader is weak as everyone may not want this person, the appointed leader may not be very good at his job and therefore the group can’t get its points and view across. Pressure groups strengthen democracy as they give people a voice out side of the normal party that get elected, and people can get more involve into political as the group they are in is an issue or issues that stand for and believe in, so therefore pressure groups strengthen democracy.
