Erikson Stages

Adolescence:

My first interview was with a 19-year-old female, a sophomore in college, who is currently in a serious relationship and has been for over 16 months.  She is very athletic and very intelligent.  I mainly focused on her adolescent stage and her transition, if one has been made, into her young adulthood stage.

  • She feels very confident in who she is and where she sees herself going right now in her life
  • Family issues were her main struggle through her adolescence
  • Shared about how her parents, mostly father, attempted to make her feel inferior during early teen years until an understanding was reached.
  • Feels this period strengthened who she is today and gave her the ability to stand up for who she is and what she believes in.
  • Doesn’t feel she’s completed the young adult stage yet because she still is learning about what intimacy includes
  • Feels that the relationship she is in is helping her discover what intimacy is to her
  • Feels her experiences and examples have most effected her life and taught her what is right and what is wrong in society

  • A full commitment is more ...
