KINDNESS TO YOUR PARENTS
Shuaib was a prophet. God sent him to guide the people of Madyan. He became very weak and was losing his sight. He had only two daughters. They used to do all the housework and saw to their parents needs. They grazed the cattle, gave animals water and returned home.
One day they took their cattle to the well. At the well the other Shepard’s were giving their cattle water to drink. Being of modest nature they kept their cattle with them and stood aside.
A stranger happened to see them. He cam e nearer and asked them why they were waiting. The girls replied “There are no other men in our house, and our father is old and almost blind. We two sisters go to graze the cattle. When all the Shepard’s have given their cattle water to drink, and go away, then do we give our cattle water to drink.”
The stranger felt sorry for them, and helped them. He gave their cattle water to drink. The girls then returned to their home and told their father about the incident.
Shuaib sent one of them to go and call the stranger, the elder daughter, Bibi Safoora went out and modestly called the stranger. At their home they came to know that the stranger was Moosa who had fled Egypt.
Shuaib comforted Moosa, and was prepared to marry his elder daughter to Moosa on this condition that Moosa grazed his sheep for him for 5 to 10 years. Moosa accepted. In this way Bibi Safoora accepted the service4 of her parents as her Dowry instead of money or jewellery.
JEALOUSY/MALICE
Prophet Muhammad said, “Jealousy and malice destroys and consumes good deeds like how fire destroys dry wood.”
THE EFFECT OF JEALOUSY ON A PERSON
- He suffers a grief and sorrow, which is never ending.
- He carries pain and suffering for which there is no reward.
- All the angels reprimanded him (without praise).
- He incurs the displeasure of God.
