Light microscope assessment
Introduction
In this experiment, I looked at an artery and a vein through a light microscope, this involved me looking at it through three different objective lenses on my microscope.
A light microscope is a piece of specialist equipment, which enables an object to be seen much larger than it actually is i.e. magnifying an object. When using a light microscope to look at a specimen it allows us to see something, you wouldn't usually see with the naked eye. It is the light that is shone onto the specimen which passes through the microscope lenses that allow us to see otherwise invisible things.
Light microscopes are used in many different areas of work for many different reasons. Some examples of the areas of work that they are used in include Health care for counting blood cells, looking for cancer cells and looking for parasites. They might also be used for Police/forensic work for finger print analysis or even just for investigating the basic structure of things such as salt and sugar.
