The argument that refugees have a negative effect on society has been a topic of great debate for many years, both in the UK and across many other countries.

Method

Pre experiment: Make Buffer solutions of different concentrations of pectinase.

1. Get out equipment and set up.
2. Cut the apple up into 6 sections trying to get them equal sized.
3. Weigh the apple chunks to check I have the same mass for each piece.
4.  Cut the 6 pieces of apple into smaller chunks so they have a larger surface area to warm up on.
5. Place the pieces of apple into separate beakers all numbered from 1 to 6.
6. Add 200cm3 of water
7. Place in microwave for (time to be decided) and leave for 10 mins
8. Cool the cooked apple in ice bath to 550C watching thermometer
9. When all apple has been cooked and cooled to 550C add pectinase as follows:

10.   Stir well
11. Place both beakers into water bath heated to 300C for 15mins.
12. While you are waiting for it to heat set up measuring cylinder for each experiment and place funnel with filter paper on it to measuring cylinder.
13. When the time is up filter all the contents of each beaker into separate funnels all labelled the same as the beakers.
14. Note the volume of liquid produced every min.
