Our individuality can be explained by our integration of ethnicity, traditions and customs. Ethnic backgrounds are mixed which makes Canada hard to define. Every culture has there qualities and strengths, in Canada the nationalities have merged to become one. This new nationality created from the blended backgrounds is Canadian. In other countries a lot of people don’t accept ethnic minorities. In Canada, we treasure the various cultures that reside here. That’s the difference between Canada and every other country. To learn about different traditions of the various cultures of our surroundings is enriching. Prosperous does not only define our economy. Canadians are rich in culture. The more ethnic backgrounds we incorporate into country, the more wealthy we will be. Therefore, culture was gone a long way in defining our home and native land.
The term Canadian means that you have the capacity to help others when they are in need. This giving personality that Canadians take on, creates a neighbourly atmosphere. In any other country they don’t feel safe enough in their own home to leave their door unlocked while they’re there. Next time your home and your door’s unlocked, feel comforted that you are a Canadian and live in a country where you can feel sheltered. Also, if someone we know needs assistance and support, we’ll be there. Being the second largest country in the world, Canadians have ample space to grow but it creates a large distance between relatives. Therefore, a lot of us consider our friends to be family. We understand the need every one has to belong a group. We are always willing to give a helping hand. How many times have you gotten home after an immense snowstorm to find that your neighbour has just finished shovelling your yard?
Trust is a big word for us. We can trust our government even the water we drink. Fortunately we live in a democratic society and we have the right to make our own decisions. Compared to other countries we have a prosperous economy. We our lucky to live in a country of democracy; we live freely and do as we please. Also, every citizen of Canada has a health plan. Saving us concern and money. When you go to the Emergency Room in the hospital it feels nice not to be scrambling for money while you’re in pain. Also, it’s not every country that was potable water; sometimes we take things as simple as that for granted. This is what it means to be Canadian, to be confident that life will only be better.
The meaning of Canadian can be found within the following points: the extreme weather conditions, our ethnic cultures, our neighbourly lifestyle and our democratic government. I am proud to be native of Canada because I can enjoy security of my own home, discovering new things every day and I can enjoy living in a democratic country. Further more, life in Canada has taught us to adapt to new surroundings due to the obvious changes in weather.
