Introduction

Recruitment is the process of identifying that your business needs a new employee and recognising what the new employee's job should involve. The skills, qualities and experience required for the job will need to be established and as a result of this the right person will apply for the job. Recruitment includes four different stages, the job analysis, the job description, the person specification and advertising the job opportunity. The job analysis is the breaking down of a job into its component parts in order to identify exactly what the job requires such as, how many workers are needed?, and what qualities and skills the workers need. The job description is a document that describes the role of the job, this would contain basic information about the job such as, the job title, duties and responsibilities and who they will be responsible to. The person specification is a document that describes the skills, qualities and qualifications required in a person to successfully do the job and advertising the job opportunity is the process of informing potential employees that there is a vacancy in the business.

The recruitment process is extremely important as it will allow me to gain fully qualified beauticians for my business by outlining all the requirements needed in a position at Asian Beauty and it will also save a lot of time and money. Creating a job analysis will be an advantage to my business because it will allow me to determine how many beauticians are needed at Asian Beauty, as a result of this I will have enough employees but will not waste money by hiring too many. A job description will benefit my business because it will allow me to determine what duties and responsibilities each employee has, as a result of this I can be confident that no task will be left incomplete. The person specification is an advantage to my business because it will allow me to highlight what qualifications, skills and experience the applicants need, as a result of this the applicants who do not have qualifications in hair and beauty or the correct skills will not apply for the job therefore time will not be wasted. Advertising the job opportunity will also benefit my business because it will allow me to make people aware that my business has a vacancy, as a result of this time will be saved because many people can see the advertisement whereas without advertising they would not be aware of the vacancy and not apply for the job.

Job Analysis Asian Beauty is a small business therefore my business will not require too many staff however all my staff will need qualifications in hair and beauty, such as the BSc Honours provided by Thomas Danby when you complete a two year course on Complementary Therapies (Aromatherapy or Bodywork), this is a form of higher education. I think my business will need three full-time employees and one extra employee on Saturdays, when it is likely to be busier. The full-time employees will each need to be specialised in a different area of cosmetology. My business requires one Beauty Therapist who can perform a range of different treatments including hair removal, massage, body wraps, skin care, eye lash and eyebrow tinting, and make-up along with machine treatments such as non surgical facelifts and faradic muscle tone. A Nail Technician is needed as they specialize in the art form and care of nails. This includes manicures, pedicures, acrylic nails, gel nails, nail wraps, fake nails, etc. They are also knowledgeable in nail irregularities and diseases and may be able to identify such problems. Finally a Hair Stylist is also desired as they specialize in the styling of hair, including cutting and chemical services such as relaxers, texturizers, perms, and colour, as well as restorative treatments, however all three employees will need basic knowledge in all the other cosmetology areas. The Saturday employee will need to have full qualifications in all these areas as this employee will be expected to help the others if there are too many customers waiting at one time.

Salary: £12,000 - £13,000 depending on experience

Hours: 2pm - 10pm Tuesday - Saturday
