Introduction

Functional Areas The functional areas of my business (Tesco) are: * Personal department/Human resources Definition Personnel Department shall undertake the responsibility to prepare, study and develop the Municipality human resources, including their planning, monitoring, training, recruitment, salaries, bonuses, promotions, benefits and management of personnel accommodation. Within Tesco the Personal department would take care of the customer services and all the enquirers the customers have. The personal department covers the policies and studies section, and this would include job evaluation. The personal department would also be the first point of contact for the customers, for example if they where applying for a job. The personal department also has the job of keeping the Tesco employees happy, e.g. if the building is too hot/cold, and it keeps details of attendance, which will carry over to the finance department to figure out the wages. * Finance Definition The finance sector basically deals with anything to do with money. ...read more.

The dispatch department would include Tesco sending labels for example to Heinz. * Administration Department Definition The administration departments main aim is to try to improve the efficiently of businesses. Conclusion

The personal department includes design, test, make, and investigation. Tesco's production department would design their products, like the Tesco own branded labels. Tesco's production department would only make a few of the labels and then test them to see if they are what they are looking for. Then Tesco would carry out an investigation and they see how they can make the product better and weather or not they need to improve the quality. If Tesco does not like the product, they might send it to the research and development to get it redesigned, so both of these departments link together. * Research and Development Definition The main function of the research and development department is trying to develop the company as a whole. This includes researching into new products and redesigning existing products. Tesco uses the research and development department to develop their company by investing into new products and redesigning products. This will help the growth and expansion of Tesco.
