We have learned that customer care is an important area which needs to be focused on in all types of businesses especially hospitality. The customers are need to be treated considerately to ensure that they comeback and maximize the hospitality outlet’s profit. A good example for bad customer care is when a meal which is not served is held until the next day; the opportunity for a sale has been lost.

The school canteen does not welcome the students at the entrance of the canteen. The dinner ladies do not say ‘good morning’, ‘afternoon’ or ‘evening’. The school canteen does not do any of this because a school canteen is a different kind of outlet than other hospitality outlets have. It is a non-profit department. The school canteen only has one menu on the wall for everyone to look at rather than giving a copy of menu to every student. In the school canteen the dinner ladies do not need the skill of to remember the menu by heart or to memorize what is each menu is made of. They do not have a wide range of menu. The dinner ladies do not have to give information about the places around by or any other information about the food and drinks.

The dinner ladies at the school canteen will need to have the dinning room clean and tidy at all times this sums towards customer care. Another important factor which always is done properly in the school canteen in order to make students satisfied is time. The food and drink in the school canteen is always served on time. The dinner ladies need to have the skill of being friendly and caring towards the students.
