-
Desire, and not intellectual or spiritual intimacy, is the heart of Stella's and Stanley's relationship. Stanley breaks the news to Blanche that Stella is going to have a baby. Their baby is a direct product of their strong (sexual) desire for one another. I have a distinct feeling that Stella and Stanley’s relationship is almost 100% Desire
- Basically put both Stanley and Blanche are after the attention of Stella all Stanley sees Blanche as is an obstacle in his life that needs to be moved or INIHILATED. He will probably have to force Blanche to leave because she won’t give up her baby sister Stella.
- Mitch and Stanley differ on certain levels such as Stanley obviously like to show his masculinity as when he took his shirt off in front of Blanche. Also Mitch shows that he cares about other people than himself like his mother and his sensitivity like when he shows Blanche the inscription of the cigarette case and these two things would never come from a man such as Stanley unless it was counterproductive to what he is trying to do.
