Argumentative Essay

Tanvi Dattani

26th November, 2008. One of the most tragic days in the history of the commercial capital of India, Mumbai. This day was even more distressing than someone’s worst nightmare. In forty eight hours, over two hundred innocent people, around eleven police officers and 3 of this city’s best officers lost their lives just because some inconsiderate people wanted to so call prove a point. Every single person in the entire world had heard about this heartbreaking incident in which three of Mumbai’s busiest, most buzzing places, the Oberoi trident, Leopold Cafe and the Taj hotel had been shattered. Is it right to convey such a message to the common man, although not directly, but it still is telling the common man that it was all Pakistan's fault? In a country like India, where over 30% of the common man are illiterate, was it right to even give a one sided opinion like that which would influence the minds of so many young children and uneducated people?

The Indian media should understand that in a country like Pakistan which doesn't have a steady government, who doesn't have the resources to keep track on over 200 terrorist groups within its nation. What satisfaction did they get by blaming them? More controversies? Or do they just enjoy the war between these two nations? The job of media is to just convey the event or story, and not create facts or assumptions of their own which the Indian media failed to do. If the Indian media wanted to blame someone, they should blame the Indian government. The ...
