Do they have free will, or are their choices made for them? Jonas felt besieged by his thoughts on what to expect. Gabe was bubbling over with exhilaration, it seemed as if that Jonas coming down that hill, spurred just a tiny bit of hope in him. As they were nearing the village, a community member started to come near them, “Welcome Jonas, we have been expecting you. Please come, let’s get cleaned up, and put some food in you

two.” “Sounds good,” Jonas replied. By this time, they had reached the village where all the people were waiting for them. As they approached nearer, and nearer the citizens began cheering and applauding. Gabe eyes were bright with exhilaration. He was just as in admiration as Jonas was. What to expect they did not know. As they walked down the street with the man, he started talking to them. “My name is Simon,” he said as he opened a door to a bath house, “Here you will find a fresh new tunic for you and Gabe. You two can get cleaned up, and then we have a ceremony in honor of your courageous voyage. We have a nurse that’ll attend to Gabe’s hygiene needs, now go get cleaned up, get dressed, and then tell the nurse, and she’ll come summon me. After Jonas was cleaned up, he put on the new tunic. “Boy,” he thought, “This feels good.” He sighed with comfort. The new tunic was new, and soft, different from the old one that was soiled, and torn. He thought about the new life that lay before him and Gabe. He was nervous, yet excited about the ceremony. After he got dressed, he saw a mirror mounted on the wall. He approached, gazed into it, and saw his reflection. His features blew him away. He looked at his pale eyes and saw they were blue. He walked up to the nurse, and told her about his twisted ankle and wounds. She went into a closet and got out gauze, bandages, and some antiseptic. She then proceeded to garnish his wounds with the bandages. “There you go,” she said. “Thank you,” Jonas replied. Then the nurse went and call for Simon. Simon briefed Jonas on what was going to happen to Gabe and him. Then they proceeded to the town’s auditorium. As they walked in the doors, the people started to applaud again. Jonas, Gabe, and Simon moved their way to the front row in front of the podium on the stage. A person then started to speak, ”We gather here tonight in honor of these two courageous people. These two have journeyed afar to reach here. They had to overcome extreme weather conditions, and many other hurdles. What they did took tons of courage and strength. Jonas came here in seek of love, and happiness, things that we all take sometimes for granted.” He stopped and looked at the two honoraries. “Would you two please come up here?” he asked. Jonas and took Gabes hand and together they walked towards the stage. “We have a family that would like to raise you. They would like to show you what love, and happiness is. They want to give you a new life. They want to give you all that you two deserve. Would you like this?” “Yes,” Jonas replied excitement. Jonas and Gabe met their new parents. Jonas learned what it meant now to be loved, and cared upon. He was excited for the new life that lay before them.
