AXE! There had been 72 brutal killings that we know of and probably many more in the quiet town of Sleepy Willow. When I was given the case I pictured two or three murders, when I read the case file I was stunned to learn how many murders there actually was. I grabbed the file and my jacket then went home to get an early night so I could start early in the morning. I didn’t get to sleep the whole night I kept having nightmares about my past. I haven’t seen my shrink in a few weeks I think I should make a new appointment. I took my pills got in my car and set off to the cop station. Everything went dark, I was younger, a piercing scream entered my head, I opened my eyes and quickly swerved my car to avoid an oncoming van. Jesus Christ, I Nearly got hit, my knuckles were white and sweat was pouring down my face as I pulled up in the station’s car park. I took another pill and went inside the station. When I entered the station everyone was looking at me and whispering, I stormed into the Commanders office and shouted why are they talking about me behind my back and the Commander said he didn’t want to tell me. Trudging out of the office Dave asked me why I was in a bad mood, I told him about the murmuring, he said he knew why they were doing it. We got talking for a while so I asked him why. To cut a long story short they were commenting because they think I’m a dead man. Everyone who has taken the case of the Sleepy Willow Axer has come to a gruesome demise so they think I am going to be the Axer’s next victim. I went into my office and sat at my desk, I started work on my new case as I thought about the myth behind it. As I looked at the words I just kept thinking about the brutal killings. I listened to the radio to try and take my mind off the killings but my thoughts just kept straying back to them. After I had read the case file I got a coffee and listened to a calming CD in my office. When the CD finished I read one of the officer’s reports on the murders, the malicious thing behind the incidents had killed the brave officer, I badly wanted to catch the crook behind all of it. The report mentioned a cold, red, shallow pair of soulless eyes. As

I read on I kept picturing the glaring eyes of the killer, they seemed to hold the truth to everything he had done, they contained the screams of the poor innocent souls that he had horribly extinguished. The eyes seemed really familiar; they somehow reminded me of my disturbing past. As I read the report I seemed to be delving deeper and deeper into my previously forgotten past. I took a breather to clear my head and took a couple of my pills then got back to work. After I read the report I phoned one of my contacts, he told me to meet him in the alleyway behind the Burger Slot. When I arrived he told me to put my glock down and kick it to the side, so I did. Then I approached him, he seemed to be extremely nervous, when I got to him a handful of Ballas pounced out and started blatting rounds at me so I quickly dived to the side and grabbed the glock and snatched the gun from the holster around my shin and started blatting back. I took cover behind one of the huge bins, I noticed the two Ballas at the back with Uzi’s, I knew I would have to take the two out at the back first. My brain registered the situation and instinctively made my body dive out and start popping off at the two guys with the Uzi’s, they dropped to the floor with holes in their chests. I dropped a couple more of them and then made a break for the Uzi’s, I picked them up and started running up the alleyway blatting as many Ballas as I could see. When I stopped at the other end I turned around and saw that they were all dead. After I’d calmed down I strutted back to the contact and pinned him up against the wall and hit him in the chin with the butt of the Uzi and asked him about the Axer. He refused to tell me anything so I started to hit him repeatedly until he finally told me everything he knew about the killer and he also told me about someone he knows up in Sleepy Hollow. He refused to give me the address of his friend so I persuaded him to tell me his friend’s address and phone number. I left the contact lying on the floor and set off back to the station. You may be wondering why the Ballas were shooting at me. It started a year or so ago, I was working a case, a smuggling case to be exact, the Ballas were making a deal with a Columbian dealer for a couple million pounds worth of cocaine. I have ties to the rival gang the Grove street families and they didn’t like it because the Ballas would get more power. I used to be in the Grove street families and my brother Rob, or Sweet as he is better known, is the leader of the gang and I used to be in it. The deal was going down in an abandoned train station. When I arrived there I ran into Sweet, Ryder and Big smoke, they were going after the Ballas too. I don’t get on with them that much since I became a cop. As I entered the train station through some double I felt a hand grab me on my left shoulder and pin me up against the wall next to the doors, I instinctively reached for my gun and pulled it out as fast as I could. I noticed that there was a gun in my face so I raised my gun to his face, it was Sweet, Big Smoke and Ryder came around the corner, they pulled out there guns and quickly aimed at me. I shouted put down the guns or I will shoot him, they lowered their guns so I lowered mine. They asked me what I was doing there, I replied I was there for a drugs sweep, they told me to get away from the train station, I refused to go so they said if I got under their feet they wouldn’t hesitate to shoot me. I ignored the threat and carried on down the corridor and then went behind this hut on a balcony. As I spied I saw Sweet go around the back, Big Smoke around the left and Ryder go around the right, it almost felt like I was still in Grove Street Families on a gang raid. I crept down a flight of stairs. I noticed a set of gas canisters where some Columbian mobsters were standing. I took a shot at them and they blew up sending a handful of mobsters flying. I quickly ran behind a huge stack of crates and started firing at the Ballas and the Columbians. I took a few of them out until Ryder, Sweet and Big Smoke charged out and started blasting at them. They all took cover and carried on shooting at them. A truck pulled up and loads of Ballas and Columbians jumped out and started shooting back at us. I pounced out and started shooting them, I dived behind some random crates. Sweet was behind them as well, he hastily aimed his Desert Eagle at me, and he lowered it when he saw whom he was aiming it at. I started talking to him, trying to patch things up; he wouldn’t have any of it. A few more bullets hit the crates so we both jumped up and started shooting back at them; we separated and stormed the place from side to side. I took a few more Ballas out before diving in the truck that had all the coke in and drove off as fast as I could. I took the truck back to the station, parked it in an empty lot behind it, and went in. after that happened the Ballas thought that I was still in Grove Street Families but Grove Street hated me more than ever for taking the coke away and that is why the Ballas are after me. When I got to the cop shop I filled in my paperwork for the day and then set off home. As soon as I got up the next day I got dressed and set off to Sleepy Willow. It was a very long drive, I got there for about 7pm, I stopped at a motel and booked a room. I decided to get an early night so I could start early the next day. When I got up I sorted myself out and then set off to the new contacts address. He lived in an old dilapidated house that seemed to be empty. I walked around back and saw someone being beaten up, I charged over to them and pulled my gun out and grabbed one of the assaulters and held the gun to his face. He started to plead for his life so I let him go, him and all his friends ran away as fast as they could. I picked up the man who had just been assaulted and asked if he was all right, he answered yes, I then asked him his name and he said it was Carlos. I remembered that the contacts name was Carlos so I asked him if he knew someone called Santos Queroz, the old contact back home, and he said yes. We got talking and I told him my name, he said that he knew I was coming. He said the contact had called ahead to let him know. After a while I started to ask him about the murders and he told me everything he knew ranging from the killers known hideouts to what he looks like. I don’t want to repeat what I was told about his looks because it will probably give you nightmares as well as me. By the time we finished talking it was about 10 ‘0’ clock so I decided to get another good nights sleep. After I got up and got changed I set off to this old meat factory that was abandoned agers ago, before I was born, that Carlos told me about. A huge eerie forest surrounded it. There were loads of old abandoned cars outside the factory and some blood stained gravel. I thought to myself this guy is sick, these cars must be what all the victims were driving. I cautiously entered the building with both of my Desert Eagles raised in each hand. I kept hearing shuffling and laughing, I was truly scared for the first time in agers. A mini axe flew straight past my face; I dived straight to the floor and rolled behind a stack of crates. Every so often I would jump up and start blatting at the empty darkness because I kept hearing footsteps and voices in it. I eventually made a break for some ladders that took me up to the roof, the Axer followed me up. I started to walk backwards away from the Axer, Carlos was right about his face. I hit a ledge and nearly fell off the roof. The Axer caught up to me I tried to shoot him but the clips were empty and I didn’t have enough time to change them so I punched him in the face but it didn’t seem to effect him, it just made him angrier. He swung for me with his axe so I moved to the side and hit it out of his hand with the butt of one of the guns I had with me. He hit me and I fell to fell over, he pulled out a knife and rammed it into my gut and started stamping on my ribs, I could hear my ribs crack one by one as he maliciously stamped on them. To top it off he ripped a pipe off the wall and smacked me around the head with it. I was barely conscious but I saw him put his hand in the blood, which was surrounding me, and shove it in his mouth. He grabbed my neck and picked me up, holding me in front of his face, so I pulled the knife out of my gut and stuck it in his head, he wailed and span round in front of the window. He pulled the knife out of his head and started charging at me so I gathered every ounce of strength I had left in me and ran at him then speared him clean out of the window. We both fell and I hit the floor but he landed on a spike and was impaled. When I woke up I was in hospital, I asked about the Axer and I was told that he had disappeared. There hasn’t been a killing by the Axer for a year now. No matter what happens I will never forget what happened in Sleepy Willow. THE END
