Dear Editor
I wish to draw your reader’s attention to the litter problem in our area. I was walking my dog down the once well kept Blackburn path and noticed how much it has changed and that’s definitely not in a good way. I remember as a child my brothers and I coming down and playing hide and seek in the trees, in the winter we would slide down the hills in the snow, it was just such good fun to be out in a big field like area. Now I have my own children, one is eight and the other in eleven and I wouldn’t dare let them come down to my childhood past and play. The amount of litter is absolutely appalling; it is a great danger to young children and animals, that’s not to mention what it does to the environment. The town of Limavady used to be known as a pleasant, attractive town, now people just wouldn’t look twice at it. Do we really want it to be like that? Do we really want to lose all our tourists who come to see the lovely landscape of the Northwest? Well we can stop it, if we all just pull together like the decent community we know we can be.
