Catherine was feeling sorry for Eddie as Eddie had brought her up and she knew when he had a pain or was thirsty. He had also been so good to her but as Eddie continuously abused Rodolfo she started to lose her respect for Eddie.
Eddie thought that his lawyer would have some law against his niece Catherine marrying the immigrant Rodolfo partly because he was jealous, partly because he thought Rodolfo was marrying Catherine to stay in America and partly because he thought he wasn’t right. After trying several times Eddie knew it was hopeless with his lawyer to help him and the only solution Alfieri Eddie’s lawyer gave was to deceive and inform the immigration bureau and get them picked up. But Eddie didn’t want to go down that path and refused to do that.
So he decided to try and persuade Catherine many times by explaining that she could go out now and meet new guys as Rodolfo as Rodolfo was her first and she wasn’t exact that he was the right one for her but she refused and said that he definitely was. She new more or less that he would do this about every guy and refused to listen to him and continued to see Rodolfo and eventually had sex with him this seem to really storm Eddie up.
Eddie’s own relationship wasn’t going to well as Beatrice wanted sex as they hadn’t had it in three months didn’t want to have sex for some sort of reason.
Beatrice kept on having a go at Catherine to stop acting like a baby and decide her future it was almost impossible for Catherine as she felt like she was betraying Eddie and didn’t want to go against his rules.
As Eddie saw that his plan to persuade Catherine to rule out marrying Rodolfo wasn’t working he like a stubborn child was going to go down the path that he said he didn’t want to go down earlier.
Firstly he tried with Alfieri one more time but all Alfieri did was give advice to Eddie about letting Catherine grow up and let her do her own thing but at hearing this he stormed out. He went to the phone box and informed the immigration bureau about the two illegal immigrants Marco and Rodolfo. When he came out of the phone box Louis and Mike saw him but didn’t suspect him of anything as they new Eddie as a decent bloke.
That day when he got home Beatrice was telling him how he should wish Catherine good luck but he didn’t want to. But before he could leave Catherine came into the room and he was talking to her about meeting new guys but she shocked him by telling him how she had made wedding plans already and was going to get married to Rodolpho before he gets picked up.
Two more immigrants had moved in with Marco and Rodolfo who had moved upstairs.
A few minutes later there was a knock on the door it was two officers and they searched the house and found all four immigrants and that was when the whole street came outside, Marco and Eddie were having a little brawl.
Marco accuses Eddie of killing his children and informing the immigration bureau and Eddie’s lecturing about how he took the blankets of his bed and this and that and trying to prove that Marco is wrong. Marco spits in his face, which makes Eddie absolutely mad, and everyone just walks away from Eddie in disgrace.
Marco and Rodolfo have been taken to prison and Alfieri is trying to make Marco promise that he won’t touch Eddie, if he promises he could be released on bail and earn another few weeks wages and he eventually promises so he gets released on bail.
Meanwhile Catherine, Beatrice and Eddie are having a conversation about Catherine’s wedding and Eddies definitely not going and is refusing to let Beatrice go and that is when Beatrice loses her patience and she starts to have a go at him about how he has no right to tell nobody nothing and that he is a rat and bites people when there asleep and when there’s nobody looking he poisons people but Beatrice replies with words that shut up Catherine alright:
“Then we all belong in the garbage you and me too. Don’t say that. Whatever happened we all done it, and don’t you ever forget it Catherine.”
These words were words of truth and that they all played a part in making everything reach this stage it was not all Eddie to blame as one person cannot do everything and it takes two to tango and that is why it has happened many times in the past when one person gets all the blame and it is a lesson to be learnt otherwise there will never be a lesson learnt.
