Compare the two characters, Daisy and Tom. Mention their similarities and differences, their relationship.

        When Nick Carraway, narrator of the book, left West Egg and went to the East side, he decided to visit his second cousin Daisy who lived with her husband Tom Buchanan. These two characters may have a lot in common as well as a lot of differences. And this might explain why their relationship develops the way it does.

        Tom was a very proud and arrogant man. His eyes said too much and they demanded dominance and respect. His body made him look aggressive and his voice emphasized  all these factors, since it was very strong. These descriptions are given by the narrator in the following quotation: “…with a rather hard mouth and a supercilious manner. Two shining arrogant eyes established dominance…Not even the swank of his riding clothes could hide the enormous power of that body…his speaking voice, a gruff husky tenor…”

        He also had a whole trajectory with him which made him powerful, since he was the best football player at New Haven. Besides, he belonged to a very wealthy family so he also had a power due to his great amount of money, since he is an egocentric who loves showing his belongings and is proud of his nordic ancestors.

        But his wife Daisy reflected all the opposite: she seemed to be very soft and calmed. Her voice was “low and thrilling” and her face was sad but very lovely. Nick saw her as an angel, but she had her other ...
