Gilead – Our Regime Manifesto

I propose a highly stratified and ritualised puritanical society for Gilead. We will offer constant protection for each individual, and the only way to maintain this is by becoming a totalitarian state. We all know the devastating state that our country is in at the moment in terms of the fertility of women. Many of our women, now infertile, seem pointless to society. We need those who can create life, those who have the potential to give something back to society, a child, a new born. As it stands, our population is due for a dramatic decrease if we do not act quickly; if we do not act now.

Who is going to look after society? Who is going to be our future? I know for certain that if measures aren’t taken now, we have no future. Women used to be companions, but now, I feel they must be used as a resource. We need to make the most of our fertile women, and they should feel obliged to help. Without them, our population will fall dramatically, eventually dying out completely.

It is in every fertile woman’s responsibility to help out in this time of crisis and I propose that any fertile woman who does not choose to help, is turning her back on the rest of us; and should suffer the consequences of this.

They will be housed, fed and looked after, all at a very small cost. This cost will be absolutely nothing in terms of money and they will be given free upkeep. The only provision would be that once a month, the Handmaid would have to sexually commit themselves to their Commander in the aim ...
