How does Shelley make readers sympathetic to Frankenstein creature?

This book is a type of horror story, which is about a scientist, Victor Frankenstein.  He creates a creature, which had ugly features, and he does not like him afterwards.  He tries to kill him but he cannot.  The creature is treated badly by humans so he begins to learn and explore the bewildering world by himself.  For the sake of taking revenge and to make Frankenstein understand what he feels, he decides to kill a number of people who are close to Victor.  At the end of the story, Victor does and the creature fells sorry about what he did to his creator.
