I would like to present my ideas on school holidays because they are too long. I have friends that say that there bored throughout the holidays and I bet most of you here that have children have heard them say the two magic words IM BORED,

I would like to present my ideas on school holidays because they are too long. I have friends that say that there bored throughout the holidays and I bet most of you here that have children have heard them say the two magic words “I’M BORED”, Also it is hard on the parents that can’t get time off work to look after their children so they have to make other arrangements, I recommend that the best way forward is to reorganize the school holiday system and I know it would take allot of work but In my opinion it would work, The new system I am proposing would be to add up all the weeks that are holidays and divide them equally for each month, This would give the pupils in schools in the UK something to look forward to and that they would be move motivated in school, Some teachers say that the children are a bit lazy when they get back from holidays so if they had shorter holidays but more frequent they wont be lazy and they also wont forget what they have learnt in that month.

When pupils get back from holidays in my experience they forget everything and even forget how to write and that is just unbelievable but if the holidays changed this wouldn’t happen, I know it would take some time to do if you decide to use my system but it would be worth it as I explained.

When children are on holidays most of them are bored all the time this is mostly due to parents being in work and not being to take them to any exciting places, The parents that can take their kids abroad or to other exciting places have to put up with them nagging all the time “Can I have this can I have that” this could get very stressful on parents this is only because the holidays are too long if they were short it wouldn’t be much of a problem on parents, they could plan it all out if the holidays were at the end of every month.

The holidays now are still the same as in the Victorian times, Summer holidays are long because in the Victorian times summer would be for the children to help the farmers to collect in the harvest and the Christmas holidays was for the children to worship Jesus and to go to church but most people now don’t go to church they think Christmas is just about the brilliant presents and the Christmas dinner also in Easter we have two weeks off to celebrate and worship but to some children Easter means chocolate eggs and don’t even think about what they symbolize.

Snow in the winter is another problem if there’s an inch of snow on the floor the school gets closed, if we had a better system to beat this problem it would save allot of hassle for the parents because they most of them would have to go to work so they have to find someone to look after their kids because obviously they cant go to work with them if they work at a busy factory but if they worked in a child-friendly atmosphere it would be ok, the pupils that go to secondary schools and have to catch a bus but if it snows the bus service gets cancelled so the school has to close again because not many pupils would turn up and I know this only happens a couple of times a year but it all adds up.

In conclusion I would like to say that I will hope you will go away today and consider my ideas and opinions for the change in school holidays and I would like to end my speech with a question.
