For my cast I will have Brad Pitt as Romeo and Julia Roberts as Juliet. I choose them two because after seeing them together in some films e.g. the Mexican I know they work well together and have a good on screen chemistry.
These would be my instructions for Brad Pitt on how I want him to act.
Dear Brad Pitt,
When you at the party you act like you would rather be any where else. You don’t really get in to the swing of things. You’re a bit annoyed at Benvolio and Mercutio for bringing you. But then you see Juliet. At this point you are inside the house not yet on the beach. The whole room mists over and all you see is her. I want your expression to say how dumbstruck you are. I want it to say that now you can see why you were born, the purpose of your life. In the mean time Tybalt has noticed you and is coming to pick a fight but your not really in the mood so you are quite glad when Capulet intervenes and puts a stop to it for the moment but you don’t see the look Tybalt gives you before disappearing. While this was happening Juliet seems to have disappeared and you quickly walk around, see she’s not in the house and go out the double glass door on to the beach. You look around and see her standing away from the dancing around the bonfire by herself gazing at the sea and stars. You go and stand next to her and start to flirt and then she slowly flirts back more and more. While this is going on you walk further away from the bonfire where it is much darker and then you kiss.
When the Nurse comes and Juliet has to go your disappointed that the magic moment is over but then you come back to earth and realise you don’t even know how she is. You ask the Nurse who tells you she is a Capulet. You are shocked and upset but you realise it is too late. You are already in love with her.
You then go back in to the house, find your friends. And go home.
These would be my instructions to Julia Roberts on how I want her to act in act 1 scene 5 and what she will be feeling.
Dear Julia Roberts,
When the camera first shows you, you will be standing by yourself. You’re not really very in to this party as you have been spending it so far getting away from Paris. You notice Romeo staring at you and you feel a bit shy and as soon as Romeo is distracted by Tybalt you walk outside and walk towards the sea but away from the group of partying people and you stand gazing at the sea and the stars thinking about Romeo.
When Romeo stands next to you and starts to flirt you reply but you don’t properly start to come out of your shell until line 101. After you kiss then you’re flirting very much. When the Nurse calls you to go you look upset to leave him and go slowly like you would rather stay.
After Romeo has left, you see the Nurse and come up to her. You are hoping to find out who he was. When you find out that he is a Montague you are horrified and sad. When you say the line “my only love sprung from my only hate”. Those are the two emotions that I want you to say it with but as you say the rest you calm down and don’t sound shocked and only a little upset as you realise it’s too late and you are already in love
