Is it true that the world is going to be end? The most related issue that we discuss regarding to this topic is climate change. The Malaysian Parliament also discuss about climate change issue.

History and Effects

Climate change is a long term changes in climate in the period from few decades to millions of years. It also refer to changes in average climate condition , extreme changes in climate. In other words , it includes any long term changes in the pattern of seasonal temperature , precipitation , humidity and wind. Climate change can occur in a particular region or the whole earth. These changes can be cause by dynamic processes on earth,external forces including variation in the heat of the sun and also human activities.

There are several impacts due to climate change. The gases released to atmosphere produced by power plants , cars , forests were heating up the planet. Moreover , several years recorded by scientist as a hottest year such as 1997, 2005 and 2010. The planets average temperature increasing very fast in four century. The scientist also predicts that if emissions of heat trapping carbon emission are not reduced. Then , the average surface temperatures could rise by 3 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of this century. Climate change could cause extinction of wildlife by 2050. The increasing of temperature was changing the weather and pattern of vegetation. Forcing animals to migrate to another better environment. The experts predict that one-fourth of earth’s species will be headed for extinction by 2050 if the warming trend continue at its current rate. For example , the highest temperature was recorded on 9th April 1998 at Chuping , Perlis. The record showed 40.1 degree Celcius. It cause the animals on that area migrate to other place to survive according to Forestry Department of Malaysia.

As we know climate change makes a major change in sea levels. As earth heats up , sea levels increase because warmer water takes up more place than colder weter. Melting glaciers at north south pole rise the water level in sea. In future, we might loose some state in Malaysia such as Pinang Island ,Kedah and Kelantan as the rise of sea level. Sea levels have risen between four to eight inches in the past 100 years. Scientist were predicts that sea level could continue to increase to 36 inches over the next 100years. On the other hand, climate change will cause stronger storms and hurricanes to become more intense. Scientific research indicates that climate change will cause hurricanes and tropical storms to become more intense, lasting longer and causing high damage to the community and ecosystem nearby sea. Scientists also predict that higher the ocean temperature ,stronger the hurricanes because it gain its energy from warm water in ocean. Moreover , as sea surface temperature increase , it developing storms will contain more energy. For example, the people in Sabah loose their house in strong hurricane which occur last year.

UTAR Precaution Measurement

Are we going to be silent forever or take some actions? As UTAR students and staffs we should aware of this issue. We should think about climate change and its effect to our future generation. We should take responsibility to take precaution steps on climate change issue. UTAR are very concern about the climate changes in our mother earth, thus all UTAR campus provides bus services for students this is to encourages all UTARIAN to save cost on transportation and also mainly to reduce pollution of gases. Unlikely other several university majorities of their students always drive to their campus and study. UTAR encourage students not to drive but car pool or use public transport to UTAR campus.

We must organize an awareness campaign among public. The objective of the campaign is to make awareness about climate change and the public should learn some basic education about climate change issue. We can use alternative media such as internet to launch the campaign. The campaign should give a big impact among public. Maybe we can make sure our future generation remain in earth with normal life. All UTAR campuses form a community service society, this society had organize many different campaign that give awareness to all students in their campus and encourages them to help saving the environment. Example of campaign organized are Green Campaign, Recycle, reuse and reduce, non polystyrene day and many more.

Supports and Ecouragements

Responsibility to preserve the environment must be the charge by the world’s population and should not be left to government and organization of the world. People also have to play important role to save the earth. Although it is small contribution from every individual, but it can make a big change in climate change issue.hope the world not going to be end. Always remember, is OUR MOTHER EARTH! SAVE IT FOR OUR GENERATION!
