Jin had been thinking of his demo house album throughout the night. The local radio station was announcing that they would do a high school night, where students can have their tracks being played live on the radio. Jin was excited. That night was as hot as the Sahara. He couldn’t get to sleep. Jin had always wanted to be a DJ since he was a child. During his childhood he had listened to musicians DJ Tiesto, Armin Van Burren, DJ Paul Van Dyk and Michael Gray. His dream was to perform around the world.

He woke up by his clock radio, the presenter was discussing the heat wave which was sweeping through Sydney “Its 42˚C in the west, 39 in the east it’s going to be a screamer today so head down to the beach you can”. Jin was frustrated at the forecast “Just my luck” he thought to himself. He got ready for school, put on his ironed uniform, packed his bag and headed for school. The bus was packed as usual, but today tempers were running high due to the excruciating heat wave.

His friends were playing soccer when he arrived at school. They were the only people who didn’t really notice the weather. He had always felt accepted by his friends since he arrived to Australia four years ago from China. They helped him a lot getting around the school, helping him with his English. He knew they were kind to him because they were all migrants as he was. Jin lived in an area where rednecks resided, so all migrants were forced to belong in a group.
