Jin had been thinking of his demo house album throughout the night. The local radio station was announcing that they would do a high school night, where students can have their tracks being played live on the radio.

His friends were playing soccer when he arrived at school. They were the only people who didn’t really notice the weather. He had always felt accepted by his friends since he arrived to Australia four years ago from China. They helped him a lot getting around the school, helping him with his English. He knew they were kind to him because they were all migrants as he was. Jin lived in an area where rednecks resided, so all migrants were forced to belong in a group. He felt proud to belong to them; they played sports together and hanged out together. It didn’t matter that they were from different cultures to him; he knew that they wouldn’t discriminate him on the grounds of his ethnicity.

 He wasn’t in the mood to play so he watched them play while listening to the tracks he composed the week before through his Sennheiser headphones. The electronic beats were flying gracefully through his ears like a seagull flying through the coast of the beach it was so soothing, it took his mind elsewhere and even the high temperature didn’t even affect him. The school bell suddenly rang; he then realized that his friends were all engaging in a penalty shootout so he decided to join in, he took a kick, one powerful kick which sent the ball flying like a bullet…..

That afternoon on the bus the heat was getting intense. The rednecks were at it again like in the morning. Jin and his friend Didier were sitting on the seat behind the back wheel. Two junkies were urging them to move so they can sit down.” Get off this seat and get out of my country you imports!” one of the junkies roared at them. Jin felt like hitting the junkie but he thought to himself that hitting the junkie wouldn’t solve anything. Jin and Diego both got kicked off the bus, all they heard was “do the right thing!” boomed by the driver. He had planned to send his house remixes that afternoon but he was so enraged he forgot to email them to the local radio station.  

Jin managed to email the tracks to the radio station on the last day which it could be handed in by. He felt thankful to the DJ at the radio station that they extended the due in date. “No problem, it’s cool” The DJ’s reply read. He felt pleased; he was going to be on the radio, “This is it” he thought to himself. It was going to be held two weeks away so he had enough time to tell his friends back at school. “You’re going to be great, I know I can count on you” Diego said the next day, “Yep” Jin replied. Jin suddenly realized after his conversation with Diego, he didn’t care about the publicity or the fame if he knew he’ll be happy if he was with his friend that’s where he really belonged. His music did come out in the beginning of the holidays, after that he became one of the most popular house musicians in Sydney by the name of DJ Heatwave.
