Life - Why should we live one day at a time?

Extracts from this document...

Why should we live one day at a time? Monday morning, a new day, and the first day of a new week can be dreadful for some, but for me it is another day that should be cherished more than yesterday. It was 7:00 in the morning and I woke up to a gut retching screech from my alarm clock. I knew it was time to get my day started by rolling out of bed and start my morning routine. I thought to myself, "Five more minutes," but knowing time does not wait for anyone I decided that extra five minutes of rest wouldn't do me any good. Once I stepped out of bed and my feet hit the floor I knew it was time to seize the day. I cherish each day god hands me because you may not know where you will find yourself the next day. I am usually on a tight schedule because I normally have working promptly after class. Through out my life I have had numerous jobs in all different types of work places and fields of study. Since I am currently studying and applying myself to become a chef I knew it was time to get a job as a chef, or something along those lines. One day I got a call from a local country clubs and this call has played a major factor in my life. The country club asked me if I would like to work in the kitchen as one of the chefs. I knew this opportunity was once in a life time so I had to make the best of it and accept the job because this could lead to huge benefits in my future. I have always dreamed of being a chef and working in a kitchen preparing meals for other people so I knew I could not pass this opportunity. Life is short and each day has to be beneficial to you. If each night you got to bed happy, and you somehow bettered yourself that day then it was a successful day for yourself. I am thankful for being able to live this live because I know that it is a gift. Each and every day I wake up and roll out of bed I realize how lucky I am that I am able to do things in my life that will help me benefit. I live each day as if it is my last and tomorrow is never a thought in my mind it is always the present and the time being. Life is short and things shouldn't be taken for granted and in order for you to get things done time can not be wasted. There is not enough time in the day to get a lot of things done so all the effort and hours you put forth should be cherished and not looked upon in a negative way. Everybody should live in the moment because before you know it your moment of living may no longer be present. ...read more.
