beach. My family and I spent the entire day splashing in the salty water, until
we were too tired to keep our heads above the water. When I was tired from
all the swimming I would lie down on the soft damp sand and take a nap. It
felt so good to have the warm sun blazing down on me. My favorite thing to do
when ever I was bored was build gigantic sand castles on the beach. My
sisters and I would have contests to see who could build the tallest sand
castle. When we where done the castles did not resemble sand castles
as much as really tall heaping mounds of wet sand.
I will never forget how the gigantic orange trees towered over me.
While I was visiting I picked a whole bucket of oranges; they were by
far the most juicy and succulent food I had during my trip! Every time I
think about an orange, my mouth waters, and I think of how sweet they
taste.Normally bedtime was a problem for me. Sometimes I would stay up
reading a book till almost one thirty in the morning! But in the Florida Keys I
fell right to sleep every night. I would leave the windows wide open, and I
would fall asleep to the waves crashing on the sandy beach. I
could hear the birds chirping outside my window along with the rustling of
the wind.
The next day was our last and my dad had heard about a place
called Sloppy Joe's. So we walked to this place which was in the middle
of the town and you could smell the food slizzling in the kitchen. I decided to
get a sloppy joe since the the resteruant was named Sloppy Joe's
so that had to be the best pick and I also ordered a dish called conch fritters.
And instead of a soda I got a glass of orange juice. For some
reason it always tasted different in the Florida keys. My mom told me it was
because it was freshly squeezed, and it still had the pulp in it and
everything. I always dreaded having to leave this beautiful paradise. I would
tell myself don't worry; we will be back in a year or two. But everytime I bite
into a orange, all of these memories come flooding back to me.
