Slim is praised by many people from the ranch because of how much skill he's got, "he was the prince of the ranch". Steinbeck shows us a character who is praised by many people yet he does not boast about it. He is considered to be the most truthful and honest person from the ranch. ...read more.

Conclusion

When Slim gave commands, they weren't seen to harsh, his commands were calm and kindly projected. George sees Slim to be the only fair person in the ranch, just like Lennie looks up to George, George looks up to Slim. Right at the end of the novel Slim was the only person who comforted George and this is where we realise that Slim did care for Lennie and George.
