I took a deep breath and walked in but was immediately pulled out by a hurried business man in a dark suit; he turned and glared at me. I tried again, but was caught inside the revolving doors this time because too many people were in it. I got out; to help the more hurried people get in. Besides I wasn’t in a hurry, I had time to spare. I walked out of the cue to the normal doors and walked thorough, a few other people followed. I went to the telephones I put a 50cent piece in and dialled the number.
He was always late, never at the right place at the right time, his life was a mess, he lived in a tip and his floor was covered in newspaper cuttings, empty beer cans, take away boxes and clothes. His shower and wash basin had a thick layer of dust. There seemed to be no Fridge freezer, dishwasher, basin, not even a cupboard. No wonder his girlfriend walked out on him. He didn’t shave, but amazingly not much hair grew on his face. His hair was always greasy and the only thing he used to keep his Body-Ode smell away was deodorant.
“Hello, Anybody there, Hello” a husky voice said
I suddenly realized I was on the phone. I immediately put it down.
I looked around, everything was normal. I walked over to the information office but I stopped half way and supported my self with a chair, the concierge noticed I was in trouble
“Do you need any help, Sir” he called
“No, No ill be fine, don’t worry” I said weakly
He stared for a while and I put on a fake smile, until he looked away, I sat down on the seat.
”I’m leaving you, cos you’re a dirty animal and I can’t live with you like this. I’m going to live with my mother, so if you want to call you know where I am. Ok.” Tears in her eyes. “I didn’t have to come to this, you could have changed but you haven’t so im going to leave you until you change. Goodbye.”
“Excuse me dear could I possibly sit down” said an old woman
I blinked and swung my head towards the voice
“Yes, sorry, I was daydreaming” I said taking in a deep breath.
The woman’s face rippled into wrinkles as she smiled. I smiled lightly back. I caught sight of a man, wearing a rain coat and a suede hat, he had a large briefcase, and he walked briskfully, I watched him until he stopped in front of the lift, he stopped and looked in all the directions and then stepped in just as the doors were closing, I looked away as he waited for the lift to go up.
