Popcorn (My Short Story)

The officer asked how I pleaded to the charges.

There was only one thing I could say...

G U I L T Y ! ! !

And my mind drifted back to that night when it all happened...

My sister was talking to me about her new lovely friend Ben. Well, that's what she called him, and the whole of my family kept saying that they were going out with each other, but they always denied it. Back then I couldn't really see why she could admit it, after all, he was really a nice guy; well to me at least. When we all went out together, he always had money to spare buying me and my sister clothes, food and tickets, so I could not see anything bad about him. This confused me why they denied going out with each other.

I don't remember a day when they hadn't see each other. Sometimes I would run upstairs into my sister room, and guess what, without doubt they end up kissing. That night she asked me if I wanted to go to the cinema with her and Ben. I wasn't too sure as I thought I might feel a bit... well, not wanted like a thin kid in Fat Camp. But Ben came around and we started talking, and we were getting on like a house on fire; that's when he asked me to come to the cinema, so we could talk about the other stuff. This seemed a bit odd as I didn't quite get what he meant by, 'the other stuff', with a slight wink like a cat. In the end, I decided I would go, after sucking up to my mum to let me go with them.

About a week ago my mum smelt the smell of smoke on my clothes, and being an 'over protective' mother, she thought I had taken up smoking. My mum grounded me, but the smoke was from my friends dad, Jack, smoking like a chimney while taking me and jack to the ice skating arena. Jack was one of my best friends who used be quite the sports man but was now not worried about sport, but how cool he looked towards the girls; a bit of a show off I'd say! I called jack up and got him to explain to my mum about his dad smoking in front of us. I explained that she wasn't to happy about this, but by then, I was off been grounded and ready to go to the cinema tonight.

My Sister, Ben and I got to the cinema with ten minuets to spear. My sister chose the film; it was a big mistake of the choice of film, Little MsPink Bagâ at 7 p.m. Not really my type of film. Jack had told me about this film as he had only just taken his, what I counted, 5th girlfriend to see this last week and told me if you don't feel sick at the end of the film, you're a stronger man than Jack.

It was half way though the film, and neither Ben or I were any stronger ...
